R32 Monster...
I dont know if anyone here reads Motor Trend but they just did a VERY interesting Article about the R32.
There is a company called HPA that tunes VW's and they made a killer R32 . They have not released any prices about the mods but the final product is impressive.
R32 is VW's fastest Golf ever! It has 4-motion AWD system and a 3.2 lt. VR6. HPA got there hands on it and made a Twin Turbo kit that blast the R32 to 60mph in 3.2 sec and 11.4 1/4 mile @ 138mph.

Im not sure the cost of this Mod but it is a VW and they tend to be expensive to mod. The Easy Street WRX with 500hp cost $22 grand to mod/install/tune. That ESX Stage 2 package will give you a 10.80 1/4 mile @ 128mph.

Dont get caught up in the hype either VW fans... You have 1.2lt more than the WRX and you have a V6 with 5 vpc (valve per cylinder).
I just want to see the WRX vs the R32 on a Real track... not Drag. The STi will kill the R32 thats you I dont want to see it.
 Yeah baby! Yeah!

I am on a list for an R32 and I'm not gonna buy one. VW's are over priced and definately over marked up when they come out. That anniversary rabbit was marked up $7k when it came out.....it's rediculous. Mostly I just want to test drive one because I do like the cars.....
but in reality the R32 is just a fattened up and overweight Audi A3

i think the vw's are nice cars, except they are overpriced. when the rabbit first came out, like onemanarmy said, the markup was just crazy. 5-7k easily on a car that has a msrp of like 23000?
VW's are junk, rated one of the worst manufacturers in reliability. fact is, they break and break often. ask any VW tech and they will tell you...transmissions, window regulators, brakes, the list of petty malfunctions goes on.
the R32 you were talking about is Bi-turbo, not twin turbo. they had a stock R32 at the LA auto show last year, very nice looking, AWD, bigger VR6, and cool racing seats...but like I said, its a VW. The rep at the show said $35,000 (without dealer markup) can you say "never likely to see the US"?
