I still cant say they werent a little bias to the VW, since it was VW people testing. I would say that in the same test that an Acura RSX type S would have been close, meaning that with its less power its just easier to drive for a first timer like the VW. In other words an owner of an STI with 10,000 miles on it who pushes it on the track would be no match for a guy who drove the same with his VW. Does the experience factor make sense?

they say the r32 is better handling than the STi? haha that is a joke. id say the STi is better handling than the r32, its just that the r32 suks compared to both evo and STi they had to squeeze insomething good about it, which is the handling, but id say STi handling and power is better all the way.
I won't doubt that the R32 may handle better than the STi. Of course we won't know for sure until the official US version is released. My friend's Jetta with the Eibach Pro-kit and 17 in OZs handles much better than my WRX. Now, obviously I can do the same mods to my WRX, and it would probably be better than his Jetta. But my point is that the VW A4 platform (this has nothing to do with the Audi A4; it's just the name of the platform) has more potential than what most people give it credit for. With the R32, add the fact that it finally has an independent rear suspension that is lowered, firmly dampened, has 18 inch wheels, and AWD, I wouldn't be surprised if this car does handle better at the track compared to the STi. The Subaru's suspension seems to be geared more towards a rally style car compared to the R32. Although this is definitely much more useful in real life, it is not the optimal setup for pure track driving, where handling comparisons are often made.
I love my WRX, and there is no other car on the market that I'd trade it for right now under $30k, but I'll give VW credit where credit is due. Here is the same article from their Subaru site:

They look sweet one next to the other. But I can't help imagining somebody having all three cars. There must be someone out there lucky enough. I've seen pics of WRX's and EVO's in people's garages but I yet have to see pics of a WRX, EVO, and GTI in a garage. If anybody is lucky enough to have them in their garage, please post pic! Thanx!
