launching WRX
it really t akes great skills in launching a WRX off the line with a good reaction time.. good enough to hit a low 14's with a stock WRX. i mean u have to be consistent... im still not consistent but i got the idea down of riding the clutch up to turbo spoolage and thatll do what the WRX is known for.. 0-60 in 5 seconds.
do you guys have any good suggestions on launching the WRX to hit a good time and reaction time?
here is my new baby that im still practicing on.

thats needed for bad dumb drivers.
the tranny is strong enough, its only when idiots dont know how to drive stick blow there tranny. and burn out there clutch,
you need to launch without bogging, grinding gears, burning the clutch.
so far i have launched my car real hard and not smelled any clutch nor grind any gears.

You can't launch without exerting the clutch more than normal driving. I agree with bone, regardless of how you launch(slip or drop) you are still going to need a clutch. Maybe not really soon, but you will need one far earlier than any person who drives without dropping/slipping the clutch and launching.

Here's me in my high 12 second *******' wagon.
I must be an idiot, though, because first gear is gone.
Keep on 'learning' how to launch. You'll be trying to get your warranty claim like all the rest of the sadsacks.

haha how sad, in order for you to learn how to launch, u need to sacrafice ur tranny or gears? well suit it urself, ima keep my car working top notch and having the perfect launches, no burned clutches no bogging, just straight up clean launch.

downshift you are a moron, how do you figure that you aren't going to prematurely ruin your clutch/gears/etc by launching at 5krpm? If you do you need to learn about some basic physics/material science when one body is spinning and then grabs another non-spinning body you are going to create shear stress which is eventually going to fatigue your clutch/gears/etc which is eventually going to make it fail. There is no way to launch without adversely affecting your clutch/gears/etc.

to get a real good time off the factory wrx or close to factory wrx, you need to launch it pretty hard from about 5k rpm's with a little chirp. you dont need to dump the clutch, but enough to chrip it...but again, you will strain your tranny significantly possibly breaking 1st gear. 2nd gear needs to be slipped/engaged from
about 5000rpm's too. dont bang 2nd as it will also break.
i dont drag race, but when driving spritedly, i rev to about 4k rpm
and slip the clutch to engage 1st (no smelling clutch) and engage
2nd at about 4200rpm without any slip or banging. 0-60mph
probably about 6.5sec. fast enough for the streets.

haha moron? there is a way to launch your car without hurting your tranny and gears fool. yes it wears out the clutch but it doesnt hurt the tranny unless you drive it wrong such as bad clutch timing and or grinding gears.. i can launch it at 4000rpm and ride the clutch perfectly. too all those who broke something and learned later, too bad for you. i had a honda hatch 92 si civic that i learned to drive before i had a WRX. im not new to driving stick.
ive been launching my car at every stop so far just to break it in. so far so perfect. no problems.
muhahahahahahahahahahaha luv this

Every time you launch your wrx you are over stressing your transmission. You can't argue the fact that you are going to fatigue the teeth on your gears by over stressing them. Stress is going to occur at any sharp corner, and guess what, between every tooth is a sharp joint that is going to create a stress concentration. Whether you think it or not you are destroying your tranny faster than someone that drives normally, now quit arguing and act like you are some champ formula one racer, if you were you would be racing formula 1.

Funny you should mention F1 actually - did you know that Michael Schumacher fried his clutch on the grid, in his debut race? Sitting on the second row iirc, in a Jordan (back when they were in the cool 7-Up colour scheme).
