they were nice cars. but will i buy it? NO. when i see mustang in my head is 30k max. i won't pay for a mustang over 30k i don't care what kind of mustang. GT500's price tag is 45k and it had 25k mark up. so 73k. 73k for a mustang GT500??? i rather TRY to offer dealership 73k at the GTR MRSP price and give a shot.
i'm not going to spend 73k on a ford mustang.

I just like the way they sound, these turbos are HUGE! also not all mustangs drive and handle like crap. I have a friend with a single turbo 06 and it drivers great in the turns and at the drag strip.

I think that properly built and efficiently tuned, Mustangs, esp. SVT Cobras can dominate on track. Granted, very few are set up that way. Last year, I went to SEMA with a company based out of NorCal called Griggs Racing. They specialize in performance-based suspensions for all years of Mustangs, and they have some GOOD products. At the show, they were playing a video of a customer car which was equipped with some of their products and was pulling 1.5Gs in the corners of some Nevada backroads. Fully streetable too.
At the show, one of their newer Mustangs was wearing a magnet that said "Warning: This car destroys Evos, Vipers, Corvettes, and Porsches." And it was true.
As far as engine mods go, I've seen twin turbo setups that really do work, and in conjunction with some common sense development, allow the car to put its power to the ground and obliterate Vipers, Evos, Vettes, and virtually anything else. Again, very rare.
Hate to say it, but GTRs will probably be worse off, just b/c of the hype and the limited availablity.

I knew a guy with an '03 Cobra that put on a K&N Intake and went through a couple different exhaust setups. Anywhere from 383 to 417 whp. For a simple bolt on, that's insane.

Car Info: this required information?
The Cobra's came from the factory with forged internals, so yes most of them are on stock blocks.
And please, tell me how a completely stock looking Saleen with twin turbo's is ricey...?

the old 1994-95 5.0's make great track cars, you can get them about 3000lbs with you strip them out.
Seroiusly, I wanted to get GT500 when it came out, but those markups scared me away.

not really... 2.2kb to a 2.6 kb is quite common on the cobra forums.
quite alot of them struggle to run good times on the 1/4mile
2.6KB is actually the limit of the stock engine pretty much after that is a pushing the limits
cobras are one of my favorite domestic V8 cars. next to the vettes haha
i have ran against few 400whp - 460whp cobras 40mph - 140mph from our area. im still 6 - 0 haha
one time my friend camaro made 400 - 405whp on a newtech dynojet. then we dynoed it to EIP mustang dyno it made 315 - 318whp hahaha,
and that very same camaro can also walk the 460whp cobras

I have a 92 mustang that I am the original owner with the griggs setup and 13inch brakes etc... and 600rwhp that is a street car. Griggs products are quality. As for the GT500, now you can get them for under 40k. At that price is a great deal. They are detuned and underated. With a tune and exhaust there putting down 550rwhp, but they are pigs at 3800lbs. Pretty much you can make anything handle great with lots of $$$$.
