how to beat SRT-4
Easiest way to beat a modded SRT-4 with your STI? Piece of cake. This requires no work on your part at all. Simply go to your couch, sit on your a$$ for a year, maybe watch some TV for a while, then, when his car falls apart because it's held together from the factory with zip-ties and bubble gum, and cranking up the boost has only accelerated the inevitable Dodge head gasket/transmission/build quality on par with Kia Rio issues, you'll be much faster.
Am I slightly biased towards Imports? Perhaps. Has Dodge earned it's reputation? I don't know, but ask someone you know who drives an Avenger or Stealth... they stole 95% of those cars from Mitsubishi, and STILL couldn't get the other 5% to work right.....

^^^^^^^ that is pretty funny. I think the SRT-4 is an awesome car regardless (not for the money, for an FF, or a domestic, it's a cool car) Time will tell about its reliablility though. I am a firm believer that no matter what kind of car you have if you take car of it it will last.

the transmission in that car is unlike the stereotypical dodge tranny. its bulletproof, as well as pretty much anything else drivetrain related. if it breaks, its because you have way too much power, you dont know how to drive, or you dont take care of it (maintanance). build quality is bleh, but again the consumer knows fully that they are buying a neon, not a porsche, so its not expected... and i havent heard of any head gasket problems.
mopar stage 3 recommends shifting wide-open-throttle for consistent boost and power delivery for maximum acceleration, what makes you think that they would say such a thing without a transmission to back it up?

Yeah head gasket issues are a thing of the past for neons. The redesigned it with a multi-layered steel gasket back in 97 / 98 (mine was a 96, doh! Gasket went at 30K).
Other than that my neon hasn't been too bad. It blew seals like a year and a half ago but that was at 155K at -5 degrees F, which i would think is kind of normal for mileage.
