and there's no point leasing unless you're a biz owner and can write it off.

Can you even imagine what your C6 would weigh with a steel unibody and AWD?

But yeah, I don't really want anything over 3200lbs. 2200lbs is better.

Yeha I know where the weight is, but Im surprised they still coudnt keep it around 3500. I cant imagine where the extra 500lbs is over an STI or EVO in there. Nissans are just porky

Yep.. Today, mid engine, rwd and rain was waay too exciting. Yikes. AWD rocks so much in the rain or anything mildly slippery.

I care. You can always feel the weight. There are some heavy cars that do handle well, but at the expense of things like tires and brakes. For example, you can go through a set of brake pads/rotors in a track day in a Z06 pretty easily where some other heavier high-performance cars will do that plus a set of tires in less time. A friend's nutty track prepped ORR Camaro would kick ***, but would eat a set of wheel hubs per race. People are awed by some cars' performance but do not take into consideration at what expense it can be at times - when a care weighs a lot, it takes MUCH more to keep it on track.

You're definately right, and I respect your opinion, but we're talking about a $70k+ car here, not a track beater that one builds to get the most enjoyment/performance for the buck.

A person who buys this car brand new and tracks it nonchalantly, just like the owner who tracks his Porsche or ferrari, will have the $$$ to pay to play (or else they are missing a few screws in the head).

I care too, because all Id be thinking is how much better the car would perform IF it weighed the same as a 997tt or Z06.
I driven plenty of heavy fast cars and plenty of light fast cars and I can assure you there is a very tangible difference in how it feels to drive a light fast car over a heavy fast car. Your connection to the road and the car decreases proportionately as weight increases, even if the heavier car is faster by the numbers than the lighter car. Its hard to describe but if you get a chance to drive an elise for a while you will see theres alot more to weight that you just cant comensate for by throwing more power/brakes/suspension at it

They ahve been bench marking against the 997TT for the last year. That car was their sole target to beat, so its no surprise it would.

I seriously doubt that spec sheet is correct. Estimated weights I have heard from reliable sources are in the 3500 range with lighter versions available.

Would be interesting to get all the past generation GTRs on that time list. The R33 GTR set a production car record that stood for a little while, but I cant remember what it was

Is the LA show way better than the San Jose show? I was hoping to see the STi and others at the SJ show in Jan. When is LA? The nuttiest one I have ever been to was the '98 Birmingham Auto Show in the UK - it was absolutely crazy. 2 full days and I didn't see everything. SJ has been mostly boring except for the 60's cars they had that one time.
