GT4 Prologue

I have been blessed with a cousin who is a video game freak. Last night, I had the opportunity to play his special edition Japanese PS2 that came with the GT4 Prologue.

By definition, a prologue is "an introduction or introductory chapter." If the GT4 Prologues holds true to this meaning, then I believe it is safe to say that GT4 has once again raised the bar for video games in its genre. Each evolution of the game is more of a revolution, and GT4 will be no exception as the Prologue has provided just a taste of things to come.

The GT4 Prologue has two sections; School Mode and Arcade Mode. Assuming the School Mode becomes the license tests that are present in all the GT installations, then you can look forward to seeing some of the old cheesy brake tests to some new tests as well (i.e. acceleration and passing/overtaking tests).

After completing each series of tests is a little autocross course with cones set up throughout the track. Your goal is to finish the course as quickly as possible while knocking down the cones along the way.

The Arcade Mode of the GT4 Prologue is similar to the Time Trial section of the Arcade Mode in GT3. You have an array of cars to choose from (a majority of which are unlocked after passing each test in the School Mode) and 5 new tracks to choose from: Tsukuba, Fuji Speedway, Grand Canyon, New York, and Italy.

So what was it like playing GT4 Prologue? It was frickin' awesome! The graphics are cleaner and the dust kicked up during a run through the Grand Canyon is a lot smoother than previous rally stages in GT2 and GT3.

When I failed on one of the tests in School Mode, I was in a convertible 350 Z. The top was down and low and behold, a driver was present. As the camera angle went outside of the car to show it getting back on the track, you can see him switching gears!!!

Remember how the crowd used to just be pasted on the background with little flashes of light from "cameras?" Well, they are now more detailed and they all move. In the Grand Canyon stage, some of them are actually on the course taking pictures as you drift around a corner and get out of your way as you approach.

If you have problems finding the apex of a turn, don't worry! Cones are set up along the curve in orange. The apex is marked off by a blue cone!

You ever use the rumple strips to get through a corner just a hair faster? You might think twice as depending on the type of strip, you may actually lose it. Regaining control isn't as easy as it was in previous GT's either.

The GT4 Prologue showed no signs of car damage for GT4. It did however, add penalty seconds if the crash was severe enough. The harder tests in School Mode required you to "play cach-up" with a pack of cars ahead of you. A light tap to the other car's bumper results in a fail requiring you to make a clean pass, but it seems you can get away with a little friendly rub on the side of the car.

The only thing I hated was that it was in Japanese and I couldn't understand a damned thing!

And for those of you wondering, GT4 Prologue has the Cusco Impreza (the newest one), so I'm sure it'll be in GT4.

its like kazza, but you dont have to worry about fake files.
emules more for big files like movies, games, and programs.
downloading is a bit on the slow side but it gets faster the longer
you leave it on.
its better than downloading something
10 times to get what you want.
ive downloaded gt4,prince of persha, ratchet & clank 2,and need for speed underground
in the last 2 weeks.full games not ripped so they can fit on a cd.
thats it

Do you play them on your computer or PS2 after putting them on a CD? Do you need a mod chip for it to work if playing them on playstation?

you play them on your ps2
you download the iso,cue-bin whatever, then burn it to a dvd with your program to burn with, bingo you have a "backup"copy.
then you need a boot disk & slide card or a mod chip(no way around it)then play.
i got my boot disk and card at http://www.mod-chip.com
have fun and get gran turismo 4 its an awsome game
