I think the new grill is a great idea. It will really help to set Subaru apart from its "looks like Honda/Toyota stigma"

And I like the looks of the grill too.

As many of you know, Walter De Silva was head of Alfa Romeo's Centro Stile (styling center) before going to (I think) VW and then Subaru. I think he did very well at Alfa Romeo, but doesn't seem to understand the Subaru brand.

The new grille looks like an upside-down Alfa grille, and the openings on either side of it are styling cues used on Alfas in the 50/60s. It seems he is just opening up his bag of tricks and throwing them on Subarus, where they may not always be appropriate...

I need to see it on a WRX concept, even if its just a chop. It could work.

urrr....
Walter De Silva is a great alfa designer.....
but he is not the one in Subaru.
It's Andreas Zapatinas who's in charge of Subaru design.
His work includes, Fiat Barchetta, Fiat Coupe, and some of Alfa 147

Read the fine print -- it is a hybrid electric :-) and thus is most likely not aimed at the performance market. It looks too damn much like a Miata for my taste :-)

However, for those who don't know, the average electric motor can put out 400+lbs of torque with little or no problem! In fact some electric-motor dragsters are turning in 10-second 1/4 miles; just saw a special on this on Discovery a few weeks ago (Discovery HD Theater OWNZ J00)
