evo over modded wrx
[QUOTE]For last few days I've been thinking whether I should trade in my slightly modded WRX for an Evo. What pros do I have if I choose the Evo?
hi, im new here. i drive a modded wrx and it's an awesome car by ant standard, i dont think anybody can object that. i think the same are true for Evo and STI. i guess it all comes down to personal preferences, because it's too close to say that one car is better than the other, although they have different characters. personally i love subaru, not matter how fast evo is, it doesnt make the sweet sound of my boxer-4!

Thanks for all your posts guys, but I think I'm gonna stick with my WRX for now. I don't feel like making higher payments plus WRX that i drive is still fast enough to keep up with the Evo, so f@%$ the Evo, Subaru all the way!

I had a wagon before and traded in for 16500 and got msrp on an MR. they are both nice car, pretty much the same in every aspect. but if u compare stock to stock. go for MR. it is nice a all performance car. power wise and handling wise. MR is probably better than STi.
I chose MR, because several reasons, 1. 2.0 liter, still the WRC breed. 2. handling. 3. new mitsubishi 10 year warranty (i am probably not going to mod MR). It is probably the best japanese car i have ever driven. its power is enough to put S4, M3, S2000, and all other cars under $100000.00 into shame on the street.
I did alot of researches, on both MR and STi. If you want to mod the car, keep the WRX with 2.0 to mod it. If you want a race-ready, go for MR.
there is NOT any single reasons to motivate me for STi, really.

Out of the box the EVO handles better, but that's just because Subaru don't setup the STI correctly out of the box.
As far as better handling, no the EVO is not better. After figuring out how to setup my STI I was easily able to pass this EVO (which was well modified with R compound tires)

The EVO is a good car, but no way I'd get one over an STI.

You mean the EVO is the slower car by far?
STI has so much more potential with 2.5 litre vs. 2.0 litre. The STI has a lower center of gravity flat four vs. the EVO's straight up inline 4.
I have yet to see an EVO (heavily modified or not) faster than my mildly modified STI. To add insult to injury the EVO's have to run some serious boost just to overcome the litre deficit -- EVO's are blowing up on track unless you bring along a dedicated tuner in your car to keep it from detonation.
The bad rap of the STI has for understeer is thanks to the factory alignment specs that are complete junk!
