probably why those two mags are saying that the new E concept is going to revive Mitsu in the U.S. I think they are all full of crap. Mitsubishi is Dodge of Japan. They swap parts and build stuff for each other. Pretty soon you are going to have a Hemi-Galant. The EVO is the only thing they make that anyone would want to own, and I think it's still chincy compared to a WRX or STI.

i think for the price of the STi you are getting a superb car. But 35k for a damn mitsubishi, I dont know if id pay that much. Honestly, its a great car (MR) but for the difference in price, i think you can totally use that money to bring the STi up to par with the MR handling, probably even above par.

All the magazines we have on the shelves of supermarket are pretty much biased in their own ways, i stopped taking into account what they think and what they like. Only media that i have respect for in getting down to the nitty gritty and having an opinions worth is the english program Top Gear. For those that have seen these episodes, dont you agree?

I wouldn't call scc too biased, I just got done reading the comp between the fq and spec c and they seemed to like the suby better. It all boils down to what you like either way, both of these cars kick ***.

Yeah it's called a freaking 200 dollar rear sway bar to create some overstear! They have a higher entry speed, we have a higher exit speed.

Thumbs up subaru is better

the reason I say this is because of the longer history of CHAMPION bred rally cars, thats why subys are better. The record stands for itself.

don't forget to read the supplemental article where they pretty much put the evo's win down to an advantage at that one track, on another track, the sti was faster every time... in addition, the evo only won the comparo by one point...

I really hope Subaru is paying attention to all this. How much more could it possibly cost to put in the Spec C steering rack and some pink springs? Even C&D made this point saying, "...we think some subtle chassis tuning on the STi would likely make it quicker everywhere" (this was taken from the additional article testing both cars' AWD systems). Once again, it takes so damn long for America to get the "good stuff," if we ever get it at all....
Actually i like the understeer which allows the STI to slide through the turns. I have set the DCCD to auto and slide through the track turns very nice. Never felt that the car was going away. Then the next round manually controlled the dccd to give more power to the rears and wow it was like driving a RWD with the fronts spinning very scarry. I spinned a couple of times. Keep the DCCD on more power to the fronts and use the summer radials very important as they stick.

Good thing to have is the sway bars. and all is fine.

well, in the overall aspect, i think both mitsubishi and subaru watered down both the evolution and STi.

for the evolution, mostly comes from the transmission. the evolution VIII overseas came with a 6-speed close-ratio gearbox to begin with. we just got the 5-speed. we also didn't get the AYC and ACD, which came on those overseas. and the HP ratings were just ridiculous.

for the STi, it's basically just the AVCS and 6-speed tranny. the engine is nothing special, just a 2.5rs block with hypercast pistons. we didn't get the twin-scroll set-up. the headwork is not much better than the WRX. in fact, i think it breathes just a little bit better as opposed to the V7/V8 STi heads, and a 7000k redline instead of 8200K. the seats? well, just put some blue vinyl on the '04 WRX seats and a STi embroidered logo and there you go. from many owners i've heard that the JDM V7 seats are much more comfortable. i wouldn't go as far as to say it's mostly cosmetic, but it's pretty close.

what i do think though is that these cars aren't very far from being awesome, but just in stock form, it could still use some work. better than a WRX, but still needs some modification. there are some that did extensive research on the JDM engine and the USDM engine and found that the JDM engine far surpasses the US engine. i'm not surprised.
