What is the major diffrence between these to cars. I was offered a 4 door 1997 Legacy GT 2.5 for fairly cheap. As far as aftermarket would alot of the impreza parts work. Especialy bolt on turbo kits.

 

the RS was not sold here in the usdm until '98. and yes there are turbo kits for both the gt and rs.

I believe the GC Impreza (Pre '02) and Pre '01 Legacy shared a lot a of pieces and suspensions were interchangeable. That changed when the Legacy changed in '01. Not 100% sure about Legacy stuff though. As far as performance, the RS is lighter by far, but the Legacy has more room. Depends on what you want.

A '98 Impreza RS would be harder to find since there weren't that many sold, so getting your hands on an '00 or '01 RS might be a little more expensive than what you wold be paying. Or you can get an Impreza 2.2AWD, not extreamly expensive.
