I gotta disagree with the nearly unanimous '05 'stang-bashing. I think it looks pretty good! Especially compared to the current styling of the 94 and up mustangs--YUCK.
This design actually looks halfway clean, and manages to pull off being aggressive without going over the top. I like it. Of course, I think the Boss mustang looked pretty good, also...

I don't understand why everyone seems to be into the whole "retro-styling" thing. I think that cars, like everything else should progress and become more stylish and functional. You'd think that with all the money that ford pays their designers they'd be able to come up with an original concept, not just a newer look on a design that was introduced almost 40 years ago. It's time for american car makers to come up with some original ideas.

Ford is trying to maintain their market by sticking with the heritage of the car. They believe that the Camaro died because they got away from the original car that everyone was so familiar with. Many who buy Mustangs buy because of the name and heritage. They know the aftermarket is huge for Mustangs. If they went with a new, original design, they may lose customers rather than gain them. Besides, only the look is retro, the chassis is supposed to be a modified version of that used in the Lincoln LS and some of the Jaguars. The 4.6 and 5.4 (and 5.0) modular motors are making technological improvements. They will be starting to build the V8s with 3 valve heads soon. Starting with the F-150 trucks in 2004. I would not be surprised to see the same engines tuned differently in the Mustangs in 2005.

I love the look of the new model (I'm sure the gaudy red interior will be changed, look how long that lovely red in the Sentra Spec V lasted), and depending on how the production model looks, what the engine runs at, and if the GTs will still run on regular gas, I'd definitely consider one for a second car in a few years.

There was a quote from a Ford exec stating that a Mustang with a red interior was his ideal car or something like that. It is his fault more than likely that the concept car had red. They very well may produce them with red interiors as a choice. I would hope it would die quickly too, though.
