Your Clutching habits

A friend and I were discussing driving habits and we were talking about clutch operation.

When you put your left foot on the clutch, do you have your heel touching the bottom of the floor, using it in a lever style as one does with the gas? or do you keep your foot fully lifted from the ground as you press the clutch down?

Curious as to what you all do and what is proper...

depends on how im driving.. if im mashing on the freway then i have my heel off the floor because its a quick clutch operation. if im in traffic or gling slow where i keep shifting every 3-4 seconds i have my heel on the floor for comfort and good control of the clutch.

You'll wearout the bearing if you even let you foot settle in freeplay of the clutch. Take your foot off. And keep your hands of the shifter if you are not shifting. It's not for resting your hand. It will do the same. This is according to an instructor I had a long time ago.

heel on ground at all time during normal driving.
