so wait, is your exhaust modified? and what kind... cause i don't know why you can seriously complain that you are caught breaking the law... its your choice to get profiled... i mean it'd be a ***** if your car was completely stock, that's for sure. but if you have even legal modified exhaust, its still asking for trouble.

Straight from our own CA Vehicle Code Handbook
27151. (a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor
vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted
by the motor of the vehicle so that the vehicle is not in compliance
with the provisions of Section 27150 or exceeds the noise limits
established for the type of vehicle in Article 2.5 (commencing with
Section 27200). No person shall operate a motor vehicle with an
exhaust system so modified.
(b) For the purposes of exhaust systems installed on motor
vehicles with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less
than 6,000 pounds, other than motorcycles, a sound level of 95 dbA or
less, when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers
Standard J1169 May 1998, complies with this section. Motor vehicle
exhaust systems or parts thereof include, but are not limited to,
nonoriginal exhaust equipment.

any modified exhaust in california is ticketable..it's bullcrap. But it's true. They just choose to police the imports and not the mustangs and huge trucks...or motorcycles.
We all have db limits and the same laws but they choose. that's the bottom line.
I got pulled over for mine a couple weeks ago. It happens. Take it down and get it tested. Get the paperwork. Or put your stock one on and do it...or just pay the fine.

yup...my caddy is pretty damn loud and my buddies chevy raps three times harder than mine but nothing. I went smashing by a cop in that thing.
Only beef I've gotten over it is that I have a spot...one youngster cop thought it was illegal...I had to explain that back in the day those where put on cars because streets weren't lit.....used to find addresses hence addresses being painted on the side walk and what not....
