Why don't you all just bring it to an autocross?
They run at least once a month and anyone with a subie has the required SCCA membership right?
I know I know, you have to turn. And you'll probably get beaten by a Miata.. but it'll show you how to REALLY drive, in a safe setting.

how much is the membership actually?? do they have tracks or with the those ice cream cones??
just personally, I like kart better ... it more fun in someway, and cheaper to fix if there is anything happen, even buying a brand new kart won't cost as much as fix the car back to mornal ... lol

carts are expensive as hell. just to start up your set up should run 3k. in addition...the gas, getting to the track, trailor, tires, engine rebuilds... is anothe rmabye 1 or 2k a season.
dats a lot of money
with 5k into a wrx...u can make it very nice; however, karting is still more FUN and can help develop skills much faster.
autox is not worth it.
30 bucks or so for 3 laps? 5 mins. max of fun?
take it to a track day....best bang for the buck

I too thought I was going to get and E55 when I was done with grad school, I was wrong. THe car has been here for a while, also didnt he tells us he was hgetting like 20g's from mom and dad to mod the car? ( i say take the $ for the car and the $ for the mods and buy a porsche)asuming that is he even gets one of them.
as for racing I will take down 16y/o in STI with 150 horse spec miata at any Nor cal track.
frankly I hope the moral police shut this inane thread down too it seems like just a bunch of kids having a pissing contest, and some adults trying to aplly logic and life experience which not one under the age of how has not graduated college and paid thier own bills can understand.

hehe...dats what i used to think i could do. however...there are more and more kids out today that are very very excellent drivers. i went to the d1 driver search yesterday in LA, met drift king and everything. out of 48 drivers...they selected 8 to come back and race against real d1 drivers for a chance to compete in japan in the real competition. one of the 8 selected was a 16 year old. he doesn't even have a license..his dad drove him to the event!
some of the other 8 drivers included returning winners from past drift events, the skyline owner that everyone talks about from DeAnza autox, and even a pro driver/stunt driver from sweden.
lots of talent out there
