Now, I don't know this kid, but from what I witnessed yesterday he's got some serious growing up to do before he gets behind his next STi. I honeslty don't give a crap if your feelings were hurt either, grow up and stick to your moms lexus next time.
The important point i think here is that if he was in fact doing 40 or anywhere near the speed limit and was following a reasonable distance, the brembos should have been able to stop him in time to either not hit the lady, or not "slam" into her. I've had to brake pretty hard in my STi for stupid reasons that are 50% of the time my own fault, and thank god that they have come through every time. A 40mph-0 stop would have been quite reasonable for those brakes given a safe following distance.
The key here is inexperience, and inexperience is something that plagues drivers of all ages, although i admit that young people such as myself (21) am more prone to suffering from.
If you get that thing fixed ice, i suggest you just take it to an empty parking lot of a big field somewhere and test out the limits of your car, i've done that a few time during the dry and the wet, and now i know what is the minimum safe distance to be behind a car at certain speeds.
A car like that is not meant for anyone to just jump in and drive *****-nilly, but if you put some effort in to learning how much space you need for certain manuvers, and how fast the car can go before the advantage of the brakes over regular brakes are null, then you would definately have more fun, and have more peace of mind the next time you're driving it in a "swift" fashion (maybe you don't have the scared-of-everything instinct yet, but i've had that since i was 14
)
Live and learn, you met the first requirement, now please meet the second for everyone's sakes.
On a different note, is it totaled or what? I'm sure there are some things off that car that some of us might want to grab (not to seem too vulture-esque at your time to vulnerability, unless you're not feeling too bad, in which case the bashing is warrented)

I am the guy that witnessed the whole thing. I was on my way back from the airport and this kid comes out of no where in his STi and cuts me off. Mind you I am driving the Shuttle for my job that I work for at the time and have guests in the van with me. He bairly misses me and scares the **** out of the guests in the van. Also important to note, I was going about 45, he took off to atleast 75.
He then proceeds to cut off a couple more cars and ends up in the right most lane on De Anza Blvd. Then he cut all the way across 4 lanes (yes 4 lanes!) to get in the left turn lane (no blinker mind you!) the whole time doing atleast 60.
I came into the left turn lane just to see that he had slammed into the back of an accord.
And just so you know, I don't feel any bit sorry for you. You got what you deserved and quite frankly it made my day! Punk kids like you shouldn't be driving 30,000 dollar cars! Kids like you don't know how to handle an STi. I can't believe you had the odacity to say that the lady in the accord was being stupid by not running the yellow light. Why would I make this up? the whole thing went down at around 3:30.
Am I mad? Hell yes! not only did you cut me off but you made me miss my light! Seeing the smoke come out of your hoodscoop made up for all that though, so thanks! I only hope I can bear witness to your next crash in your new 30,000 dollar replacement car that your parents get you.
You took the risk and paid the price.
Nobody should feel sorry for you.

She put on the brakes, you rear ended her.
If you could not stop with those awesome brembo brakes then you were obviously way too close or going way to fast for conditions.
It's your fault; period.
deal with it and move on.

imo i think any kid driving a 30k car looks bad. unless they played the stock market right or something. i know a kid that bought himself an m3 after getting an ipo from a company he worked for. i dont think that this is the case.
i dont like watching kids younger than me driving cars that are better than the cars my parents drive after working their whole lives.

The thing that gets to me is that this kid drove recklessly, smashed into someone, tried to blame the other person, and now comes into the forums and lies to get our sympathy.
As far as the kids age goes all I can say is that he most likely lacked braking experience that could have prevented the accident, but nonetheless he was still driving reckless. I have seen a lot of older people drive just as bad so age shouldn't be an issue.

okay, well i asked alex to delete this thread.. because people are obviously taking this too seriously. and also what's funny is that all these people that are bashing on me were not there, they are getting their sources from someone that's not even on i-club. also one person posted what his friend said, then all the sudden jus because im young... it makes me a target. i dont exactly remember who it was, and im too lazy to go back and check.. but whoever made the comment that my parents jus gave this car to me.. you don't know jack **** about me, so stfu... seraph, dude i mean you know me... and you know how i drive. you can choose to believe those guys or me.. i dont think these people also took into account the WEATHER. how was the whether that day? do any of you remember? RAINY... wet grounds... second off the time of the crash was not 3:30..
and stop ****ing referring me to as "kid"... regardless if it was my fault or not this shouldn't be such a big deal to you guys. i think that if i was around 30 you guys would all jus leave this thread to peace. honestly.. i would not even posted this thread if i had known some guy posted a thread about me already...
forget it... you guys won't believe anything. shows that age doesn't even matter all huh?...

btw i dont mind when kids have expensive cars, i do mind when they crash into people and try to play it off like its just another wednesday afternoon

having said that, the "kid" comment is exactly what i meant -- this shouldn't be a bitter thread bashing a fellow iclubber because of his age. fault is fault, regardless of age. i don't think we as an online community are justified to label you as a "kid" with an expensive toy.
if you look at the average age of iclubbers, i'm sure most members are in their low 20's...that doesn't make them much older than a "kid", IMO.

Honestly I think younger people driving sportcars is waaaaay cooler than older people (50ish) driving them, but if the older crowd wants to ... hey more power to them =)

what i meant was, i don't dislike a young person solely becasue they drive an expensive car. but i do think it looks bad, unless they're a drug dealer or something, then i won't say anything, cause at least they worked for it.
btw, if your not a kid then what are you?
you were born in 86, i was born in 84 and i'm still a kid.
