BAIC is so damn harsh, rude, lame.....
I am embarrased to rock my plates.
BAIC STI is going in the can.

Before I even got my STi I thought to myself how cool it would be to be in this community. Then after about 3 months of ownership and going to a few meets, I've come to the realization that only a handful of people from this community are actually genuine. However, a lot of what I see on the boards these past couple of months is a lot of bickering and laughing at people via the expense of their misfortunes. In my opinion, that's really distasteful.
Secondly, I'm 22 and I do drive an STi. Yeah, my parents did help me out to get it but I'm paying for a whole lot of it myself. I'm still in the bracket of "young driver" considering I'm not 25 yet. But you have to understand that Rockin/Seraph is on the right track that there's a lot of experience that goes in hand in hand with driving age; with that said, the last time I was at the DMV I watched a couple of 30 year olds trying to get their license. It goes to show you that a lot of the time, you can't just judge on appearance.
Furthermore, I'm pretty disheartened by the fact that a lot of you have jealousies like this. I'm pretty envious of my friends that are really wealthy and I want to mod the crap out of my car, but I always remind myself that it's going to come in due time. Everytime I read about a thread about the age of drivers in STi's, I'm already prepared to read stuff like, "Young punks don't deserve STi's" or "Old fogies need to drive something else like a Cadillac" or some other crap. That's the crap that's keeping me away from BAIC.
I love my car and I'll stand by it, even if it's stock. It's cool to me and that's all that matters. What does it matter what other people think of my car and me? I've come to learn that it mean's absolutely nothing, since I rarely see the people that give me grief anyway.
All in all, I think you guys need to just give this guy a break. He's been through a lot already with getting into an accident and secondly, 90% of the people posting about how it was his fault weren't even there to witness it. And all of the people that seem to have witnessed it, I'm still a bit skeptical about how valid the account was, but perhaps that's because I don't know you.
That's just my two cents.
And I already know I'm going to get flamed for this, so, flame suit on.

I am the guy that witnessed the whole thing. I was on my way back from the airport and this kid comes out of no where in his STi and cuts me off. Mind you I am driving the Shuttle for my job that I work for at the time and have guests in the van with me. He bairly misses me and scares the **** out of the guests in the van. Also important to note, I was going about 45, he took off to atleast 75.
He then proceeds to cut off a couple more cars and ends up in the right most lane on De Anza Blvd. Then he cut all the way across 4 lanes (yes 4 lanes!) to get in the left turn lane (no blinker mind you!) the whole time doing atleast 60.
I came into the left turn lane just to see that he had slammed into the back of an accord.
And just so you know, I don't feel any bit sorry for you. You got what you deserved and quite frankly it made my day! Punk kids like you shouldn't be driving 30,000 dollar cars! Kids like you don't know how to handle an STi. I can't believe you had the odacity to say that the lady in the accord was being stupid by not running the yellow light. Why would I make this up? the whole thing went down at around 3:30.
Am I mad? Hell yes! not only did you cut me off but you made me miss my light! Seeing the smoke come out of your hoodscoop made up for all that though, so thanks! I only hope I can bear witness to your next crash in your new 30,000 dollar replacement car that your parents get you.
You took the risk and paid the price.
Nobody should feel sorry for you.

Hahahah OWNED. I'm sorry, but I completely agree with the post above and it pretty much solidifies my viewpoint on stupid spoiled jackholes that are given toys that require a higher level of maturity than they have. But seriously, don't blame him, blame his moronic parents!

There's some pretty wack parents out there and some pretty wack kids, but I've met sjice on several occasions and he's a nice guy. More than half of you people out there pass judgements before you even get to know someone.

So let me get this straight, (parents to kids) buying someone you love an expensive car that demands a lot of responsibility makes them morons?
May be it is you than needs to re-evaluate your line of thought
This thread is a trainwreck... I just can't look away.
The accident is definitly his fault, and he made a mistake. No one was hurt and hopefully he learned a lesson. No big deal. It doesn't make him a moron, and it doesn't make his parents a moron.

I'm just sorry for the other STi drivers who will have to pay for his mistake.

I feel bad for the guy. He's going to pay for it in the end anyway, so why give him anymore trouble? No one was hurt so it's all good.

I'm not beliving one person or another, facts are:
1) someone was rear ended, and apparently you did the rear ending.
2) Your car is perfectly capable of outbraking at least 80% of the cars out there
3) Rain should be a heavy factor, especially with those RE070's
All three points either show that you were either following too closely, or going to fast. Or you simply haven't had the kind of experience with having to brake when the person in front of you suddenly brakes (but it might have been obvious that some people stop and some people run yellows so you should have been prepared)
Knowing your own car is the ultimate weapon against all the people that are seemingly "hating" on you. Had you had a pretty good idea the braking threshold of our car, and how the tires perform during the rain, coupled with the common sense of:
1) some people DO obey traffic lights
2) Following distance should be increased during wet weather.
3) If you're gonna follow close, make sure you're going to same speed as the person in front of you, then if your reaction time is fast enough you will always be able to outbrake them, due to the nature of our brakes.
I seem to be one of the few people that are actually trying to point out how this can be prevented in the future instead of pointing fingers and calling you a "jackhole", so please don't think that i'm taking sides, as i'm just trying to bring some clarity to the nature of the situation.
To tell you the truth, even though i know you, i wasn't there, i didn't see anything, so i'm not inclined to believe one person or another. You rearended someone, and that does make you at fault, because it should have been your responsibility to be able to handle whatever the person in front of you throws at you. Similiarly, it is also a wise idea to get out of someone's blind spot if they happen to wander into that position, and all those other rules that just make sense but some people never think about.
Just learn your lesson and as my computer nerd friends say "pwrlvl up d00d, must get more xp!!!!"
They would have called you names and pointed fingers if you were 40 and were accused of the same crap, i know i would, i can't tolerate when people get rearended when there was no mechanical failure on the part of the rearender car, but it was a human failure. But like all people that make mistakes, we can learn from them. Ofcourse i fail too, and i'm trying to help you by looking at it the way i would look at it if i rearended someone.

Great post Seraph. This thread should end on a positive note!
Accidentally rear-ending someone is one thing, but people got a bit fired up because it seems that you were not only driving fast, but recklessly.
Who cares...everyone is ok, your car will get fixed, and you learned something from the experience.
