ha! right. i think that most of the factory cars are either completely rebuilt at the end of the season to go again the next year, or crushed. Subaru doesn't want the details of their tranny going to Peugot for them to reverse engineer, and the same is true of the Puegot's various parts.

the closest thing you'd be able to find would be a privateer team that was selling off their rally car because they needed the money. even then, you're looking at an outragous sum of money for the car.

Yeah, I thought it was far fetched but I wasn't sure.

The average ticket price on a new WRC car is anywhere between $300,000 up to $1,500,000.

I also bought my WRX because of the WRC. I fell in love with it.
My other car is a Ford Focus, which i also bought because of WRC.
Hopefully i'll win the lotto so i can get the EVO as well.

just the computer alone that controls the gear box cost roughly $30,000.

hell, Subaru's new gearbox runs about $80k and requires a full rebuild after every rally. think about that the next time Petter gets a gearbox replaced at service...

another cost is the all the carbon fiber used for EVERYTHING.

i remember seeing one footage where the paint was coming off the bumper. underneath the paint the was the CF.

see in WRC, they PAINT over the CF. for everyone else, CF is left alone... lol.......

hell, in the WRC carbon fiber is cheap! those massive wings are all cf, as are most of the non-structural body parts.

some of the coilovers run $10k plus a set -- and the teams swap them at most service stops!

oh, and bushido you've got a pm.

Speaking of money...Is anyone gonna go to any of the Rallies in the '04 season?? I was looking at plane tickets to Leon, Mexico for the WRC in March and they want $725.00 a piece. I wish I could go but I don't think I wanna blow that kind of money.

i'm assuming that you'd be flying out of Boise, right? there has got to be a cheaper way to get to Leon. i flew from San Fransisco to Costa Rica for something like half of the cost of the tickets you're talking about. what airlines did you check out? it might be cheaper to fly to SF or LA first, and then catch a flight into Mexico.

Actually I was flying out of Spokane, WA., only 30 minutes away, and I checked on Travelocity.com. If I could find a cheaper way to go, me and my friend would be there no questions asked. I love the WRC!
