WRC: what's up in The World Rally Championship 2003
For years now i've been watching the wrc on SPEED and been cheering for the underdogs. Petter Solberg has been a favorite of mine since his days @ Ford. Now with 2 wrc wins under his belt, Great Britain 2002 and most recently in Cyprus 2003. How much longer will it take this great driver to be crownd king and win the championship.
This week watching the German rally (which is a very tricky tarmac rally) and it seems that if there is any bad luck to be had, it's on the Subaru team or Markko Martin @ Ford.
But Sebastian Loeb once again wins in Germany but 3.6 seconds over Marcus Gronholm who still has not won a tarmac rally. Sebastian deserved the win. He drove a great race.
i could go on all day. but lets hear from some of you others on the subject of the WRC, and see how long we can keep this thread going. with Finland just around the corner it shouldn't be too hard.

I think Gronholm just knows what it takes to win. Burns is giving leading the series. Still has no wins, but he is consistent. He'll win a couple I think this year. But I think Solberg, Martin and Loeb are the future and are gonna be kicking **** more and more.

Couln't agree with you more. Those 3 are the future of WRC.
How about the new Skoda? Damn if they can figure out there mechanical problems they could start winning races. They have the same suspention system as the Ford team. A one hell of a driving team to do some damage. But just amagine if Skoda picks up G. Panizzi and H. Rovanpara because of the new WRC ruling. Anyhow it'll be exciting to see where everyone goes.
Is there is rumors that R. Burns may return to Subaru for 2004? That'ld be great for the team.

Will Colin McRae lose his ride? His father Jimmy McRae is talking to Hyundai about aquiring both Colin & Alister for a nice package price.

It'd be nice for Subaru to be more competative in the manufacturer's trophy. Next year maybe? With the new ruling? Burnsie next year? Hmmm... What about Tommi? This year, his car always seem to break down.
The new Skoda seems a lot more nimble than the Octavia. It looks like a boxy 206. Have you seen the newest version of the Focus? What do you think?

When i first saw the focus i didn't know what to think. I liked the new body styling and that wing. Talk about down force. It may be the fastest car out there.
I would love to have Tommi stick around for another year, but with all the talk of him leaving if things don't start getting better...... So far they ain't getting better.

Who's going to win Finland? Please list your pix.
1) Petter Solberg: Subaru
2) Marcus Gronholm: Peugeot
3) Harri Rovanpera: Peugeot
4) Carlos Sainz: Citroen
5) Tommi Makinen: Subaru
6) Markko Martin: Ford
7) Armin Schwarz: Hyundai
8) Richard Burns: Peugeot
I can only hope that Petter wins. But it'll probably be one of those Finland boys.

I think Richard will do better this round as it's fast gravel and he really seems comfortable on that surface. I'll say...
1. Gronholm
2. Solberg
3. Burns
4. Martin
5. Sainz
6. Makinen
7. Rovanpera
8. Schwarz

Ya Burns could really use that first win with Peugeot. And the fact that Peugeot runs well with little machanical problems that could increase his chances.

Man i'm very sorry to hear that. I'm such an addict that i've recorded every race over the last 4 years. Last years coverage was the best. They split up the 3 days of racing and had them on 3 nights (1 hour each). Plus rally xs which was pre-race interviews as well as finding out about the cars etc....
Can't wait till this weekend.

Gotta love the WRC! Does anyone have the WRC 2002: Reloaded DVD? I wanted to buy it but it would have cost me nearly $50.00 for it to be shipped to me. That really bummed me out.

I remember seeing it on cable once.. They were doing some kind of promotion. But I didn't see any rally races.
sucks I don't get the channel, and I am too cheap to buy them.
