WRC: what's up in The World Rally Championship 2003
Well, I get the speed channel too, but I get bored at work and would like to read up in my 'office' if at all possible since we can't get a TV in there (if you can catch my drift).

OT, but I wish Virtual Spectator would hurry up and release their new and improved software. I downloaded the demo last year but they pulled all support for it, promising the new version would have a lot more features. They tease us on Speed by showing the re-creation of Petter and Richard's last stage overlayed, but I want to see this on my home PC. With trees and terrain, too!

it would be neat to get virtual spectator info broadcast in real time over the net. my guess is that it would be pretty resource (i.e. bandwidth, etc.) intensive.
What is all this talk about Virtual Spectator? Please tell me that I am able to fully watch the WRC during the day at work since I can't go home and watch it?

Well since i didn't bring it up i'm not sure if i know. But while watching the rally's on SPEED channel they show what they call "virtual spectator" and show you the race from the air with cars running the stages. It allows us to see how the cars did while running together. Then you can see who broke first into the corner and lost time or who went over the jumps at full speed etc..... If these guys are talking about something you can have on your own computer, i'm then totally in the dark.

I understand the VS on Speed but am just also unaware of the computer version, if there is one. The rally tonight is just a continuence of Finland isn't it? I always thought that the rallies took about 3 days or so on TV, am I wrong?

this season it seems that they've gone with the single two hour broadcast format, where as last season they did one hour per day of rally. i think we miss out on a little bit of footage this way, but it's certainly easier for me to program the TiVo when i'm only looking for one two hour 'auto racing' slot as opposed to three on hour slots.
i recall hearing somewhere (it may have been on the rally germany broadcast) that next year they're going to be running a rally in both mexico and japan. anyone know if japan is going to be a tarmac rally? i can't imagine that they'd be running gravel there, it just seems wrong. oh, and why the hell can't they bing rally here instead of mexico?
