A top motorbike racer who drove his car at 130mph on a dual-carriageway in Leicestershire has been banned from driving for 60 days.
World Superbike star Chris Walker, 33, was clocked in his Subaru on the A46 dual-carriageway, with a 70mph limit.
He told Loughborough magistrates he would be unable to fulfil racing commitments in Britain and on the continent if given a lengthy ban.
Walker, from Kirklington, Notts, admitted speeding and was fined £1,000.
The court also made Walker pay £35 costs.
'Moment of stupidity'
Walker claimed he was being "tailgated" by a Ford Mondeo on the road in August 2004.
He told magistrates he accelerated to get away from the vehicle but then noticed a police patrol vehicle following.
Walker said it was "a moment of stupidity" and he was "disappointed" with the way he had dealt with the situation.
Walker came 11th in the 2004 World Superbike Championship for the Foggy Petronas Racing team.
Magistrates heard he drove up to 40,000 miles a year in England and Europe, often travelling from event to event on the continent in a motorhome.
