I think mornings are fair game. Late nights/early mornings when the sun is not up & people sleeping is not.

For me personally if I am going to be making a horrible amount of noise I usually wait till about 10am. Sure I could start earlier, but it usually works out to get all of my prep out of the way and hit the trigger on the grinder/sander whatever sharply at 10. Like on Sunday, I got up around 8 but after coffee and mucking around I didn't start actually grinding the rust out of my trunk till around 10 anyway. No reason, just trying to be nice to the neighbors. I usually shut down music and etc, turn down movies and such around 10 too but most of my neighbors are pretty far away. I would say if you are bothered by outside noises, get some earplugs as it really helps me. There used to be a furniture shop below us and the jerk would come in on Saturday and fire up his shop fan around 7:30am which is right outside out bedroom window (says in our lease he wouldn't work weekends). I know it's just a fan but it has bad bearings - the first time I heard it I called the landlord and he could not hear me over the phone because of the noise in the bedroom.. Some people are just jerks. I try to be extra nice though because I have 2 parking spaces and 5 cars and I am always doing something with the cars that I am sure annoys the neighbors somewhat...

Waiting until noon to start making any measureable amount of noise would probably frustrate more people than a similar rule would please. Or maybe not. I think 8 a.m. is okay, maybe earlier once in a while. Everybody's different though.

i worked for the City of MV doing parks work...blowers would start at 7:59

I say 9 is considerate, 8 is legal.

Construction id say 8 because they gotta get S done, but Gardeners every week should srsly start at 10 on a weekend

I dont mind consistent noise, but inconsistent noise pisses me off, like Crows, hedge clippers (human powered) and hammering. I dont mind mowers and blowers

agreed the incosistant noise screws with you but the retarded gardeners by my house make the mowers and blowers rev up and down constantly which annoys me and it takes them three times longer to mow a lawn then it should.

yeah, if its YOUR neighborhood, then i wouldn't do loud projects until 10 weekdays and maybe 11 weekends unless i had to.

Though my friend will start an engine after a rebuild past midnight with headers only and wake up the whole neighborhood

when i worked construction, i would hear shady guys telling stories, one guy fed a yipping dog poison because it barked for years on end or something. he said it didnt die...so never really got the point of that.

sad but damn, yipping all morning/night would make me kill something too!

people poisen animals a lot, my old neighborhood wolf dog that got adopted by a grass valley home got poisened, because neighbors didnt want a wolf in their yard...yet they live below the fricken sierras!
