Working on LOUD home projects in the morning

Just want to get an opinion, so some days, I get to sleep in, today happens to be one of them, otherwise, I'm up at 5 AM and out the door by 5:45 AM.

Seriously, does anybody ever start a home project that's LOUD BEFORE noon? Does anybody else think this is seriously inconsiderate?

I woke up this morning at 8:54 to loud grinding. My neighbor decided that he had to sand over 9000 pieces of wooden furniture. Right now, I'm tired as shiet and I want him to DIAF. The grinding noises are still going on.

hard to say man... sometime i start detailing 9am at my place...

i use an electric power washer, buffer, and vacuum... i am sure some of them fine me annoying... but I have yet to get a single complaint. Than again, I always say hi and chat with my neighbors. Once they know you, they are less of an ***. Plus, I don't work out of my place every weekend.

I know in Los Altos there are 2 laws governing early morning sound.

1. You cannot under almost ANY circumstances start a residential project that 'in any way: bothers, annoys or invades' someone else's 'sound environment' prior to 9am. Whatever that means. We had our roof re-done and the contractor had his guys wait until his clock hit 9:00 before he had them start anything.

2. You can report any countinuous noise that lasts more than 20 minutes - anytime, anywhere: I had this one nailed on me when I was having a summer pool party at 1 in the afternoon. Its BS.

Personally, I am out the door at 745am and I'm up at 650am so my vote would be 'who cares'.

i think 9/930 is reasonable... anything before 830 and i'd probably be pissed. even if i weren't sleeping. too bad they start at 6 or 7 for the complex they're building over here.

I'm sorry but 8am and it's all game...

and I don't set an alarm for Saturdays and Sundays I have nothing to do, and I sleep though all the Hispanic gardener dudes in the neighborhood.

Noon is ridiculous. At this time of year almost half the daylight hours are gone.

For me personally, during weekdays I don't start anything loud until 8 am. Weekends I keep it down until 10 am.

On week day in the city where I live during the week you can start all the loud stuff you want at 7:30am, and 8:30 on weekends. It does suck to wake up the loud stuff like that, but people got to work and make the money then need so its all good.

Yeah, construction before 9 is a little overboard in a residential neighborhood. If my neighbor did that I'd start "test firing" all my weapons bright and early outside on the weekend.
