Was working on guns tonight so I took some pics with a few new add ons.
The very last thing I want done to the AR-15 is to get a different stock, shooting to get a Magpul UBR, not only is it cool, but it balances the gun a lot better. Anyway, here's pics from earlier. The AR-15 shoots sooooo damn accurately with the holo-sight and I have yet to experience a hiccup. Keep in mind this is a preban rifle so I can do whatever I want to it and still be legal.

(laying with it's big brother, the SOCOM II which still needs work to meet my specs)

You can see the light/laser combo. Made by surefire... that laser is so bright that it blinds me to look at the beam spot on the wall!

In this picture you can see the green laser and white light in full effect. The light is brighter than any maglight I've ever used and WILL blind you for a couple seconds which is all the time I need.

Only thing left to do to this rifle is to change the stock like I mentioned earlier, and add a bayonet to it, just to **** off politicians that have banned bayonets in 2000, but this rifle is preban so I can do as I please. MUHAHAH!
Some say my setup is overkill, I beg to differ. If I want a simple AR, I'll use the other one (varmint), this one is supposed to be a little over the top, and god damn does it shoot well and fast while still being accurate thanks to the weight balance and holographic sight, not to mention how intimidating the damn thing is. The lower receiver is a Bushmaster, upper is a 16" M4 Rock River Arms assembly. I've shot the hell out of this rifle and never had any issues other than one of my mags not feeding correctly cuz its bent, but I threw that one out and its flawless now
Can't WAIT till my baby gets a new stock... the one I have now is on its last legs... so much play and movement that I'm afraid its going to break. I used to love it, but its time has come.
Hope you guys like the pics. Let me know what you think!
I call the AR-15 the peace-maker & I call the SOCOM II "The Penetrator".

It all depends. You can get an AR-15 rifle bare bones for around $900ish, but guns can be like cars... you customize them, and thats when things get expensive. That AR-15 in the pic is worth more than I'd like to talk about.
The other rifle, the M1A SOCOM II that is in the pics with the AR is stock minus the large magazine and bi-pod, but with the rails and all that jazz, I think I paid $1,600 out the door for it. Both are great and dependable rifles, however, the SOCOM II is far more deadly, but the AR-15 is far more versatile and easy to carry with you, bullets are smaller so you can carry way more ammo, but if you're a good shot that shouldn't matter because you should be able to take a target down in a single strike with the M1A. .308 (The bullet it shoots) does NOT f' around.
Check out this picture for size comparison. The .308 is on the left, and 5.56 (what our troops use) is on the right.

Of course there are even bigger bullets that can be had, but after .308 things start to get really heavy, expensive, and not very practical. You can still carry a lot of .308 with you and be comfortable, which can't be said for .50BMG, which is like double the size of that .308 round.
.50cal is on the left, .308 (remember, .308 is a big round!) is not directly next to it, but the one next to that, so 3 over.

Huh... I kinda went off on a tangent there. sorry

Time to upgrade...
I just finished putting a truck load of rounds through an HK 416. All I can say is, it's time to upgrade. I like the M4, but I'd never go back to it. I like that SOCOM. That, with AP rounds is a vicious weapon.

Pauly,
I'm sooooooo down! Wish I could make my own range down here, hell, even a bb gun range... but one shot from a bb gun and I'd be swarmed by SWAT and the FBI and maybe the ATF.
