Anybody know of a good shop...

to do some mild boring and install forged pistons etc?

I called SpeedElement and they told me they use a place down the street but I'm looking for more numbers so I can call around to several places.

Anyone with built internals want to lend a hand with a good, reputable place?

Just my .02 but trying to get the lowest bid for machine work is like seeing who can give you the "cheapest" tattoo. Keep price in mind but make sure the shop is very reputable and know suby motors and has done many successful builds.

+1
going cheap=punching self in face later. Personally I'd ask LIC in Novato who to use.

I recommend Replika Maschinen in Santa Clara. I haven't been there in a while, but they did a bit of great work for me over the years. I also know that this is the shop that the VW place I take my R32 sends all their machine work for the FI cars and such. I had the head for my GT-4 worked over by them. It was a GenII 3SGTE head that had some damage to the combustion chambers but it was very expensively ported and also was using 1ZZ shimless buckets so I went ahead and had it fixed instead of replacing it. Cost about $1400 to have the combustion chambers redone, all new valve gear with improved valves and titanium retainers and such. Looked like brand new when I got it back. At the time they were building a couple WRX race motors for a rally team and they looked AWESOME.
