Well I just cleand up about 6 virus's off my computer, and now i can't play .avi's on wmp

i have downloaded the new version and reinstalled it couple times still no luck... before i used to be able to watch avi's from my gf's digital camera... but now i can't watch those... i don't know if its all avi's... but i can still watch mpegs etc.


any advice?

 

make sure in your options tab to select file type and associate avi's to wmp. If that doesn't work, d/l divx player and use that to watch it.

or just download the codec for avi's for your wmp

 

get Media player Classic.. its the best!

how can i get media player classic? it won't let me install any other version of wmp due to having version 9...

 

notice.. its called Media Player classic. not WINDOWS media Player classic. its not by Microsoft so u can install just like any other program and WMP wont get pissed off. this bad boy plays my high res divx files (i'm talkin 760xwhatever) perfectly where neither divx player nor WMP could play it smoothly. although for my 1024x768 res divx files i gotta use mplayer in linux to play em smoothly.
