So long as your catted you should pass the sniffer portion of the test no problem. They could fail you on the visual though for the uppipe and downpipe if i'm not mistaken.

I belive you will fail because of the map and the dp, the up pipe is no problem . I had an after market one and they cant see it anyways, you'll be good with your catback. I had to reflash back to stock and change out my dp.

As long as you do not have a CEL and have a functional cat and the car is up to temp, you should pass the sniffer portion of the test. You need a cool shop to pass the visual. I am up for smog in November, I have a high flow cat, but will put my stock DP back on and roll in there and see how it goes. It's real quick to swap that thing in and out.

If they don't look under the car, you'll be fine.

A little dark colored, hi-temp paint on the downpipe might be a good call.

Just go to a shop that has a "If failed, 2nd time is free" things. If they fail your smog or inspection, just swap it out for the 2nd time around.

Last time I smogged, I put on my stock dp, left my gutted uppipe and I passed as expected. Next time, I'm just going to go with my shorty DP with a stock DP casing around it with my 3rd cat in place and see if I pass. If not, I'll just do it the previous way and it should be free.

Anybody think heat wrapped aftermarket headers will pass visual? I looked down from the top of the hood and you can't see anything except the wrapping.

place i went to (PM me) stuck a cracked mirror under my STi, from the passenger door side, for about a second and pulled it out.

i asked him what the mirror was for. he said he just wanted to make sure that a cat was down there... or something that looks like it.

I went to a cool shop and they didn't even look under my car or hood. I just had to swap my downpipe. I left on the headers and uppipe. And I left on my vf34 map on and I still passed.

short answer

No

If it's visible from under the hood, they are gonna fail it

Well as long as your not tuned and still running a cat, the SMOG place by my house passed me on visual since my breather hoses are still connected to my intake. Not much mods on an NA engine but still passed.

Running:
Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake
Borla Headers with custom exhaust
WRX Cat on a 2.5RS engine

I passed smog in my old WRX with a catted dp, up pipe, tune and catback (no resonator.) The up pipe will not pass the visual generally, but it will pass the sniffer. I guess I just got lucky the smog tech didn't too hard at my engine

What did you fail on your pre-test? Visual or Emission?? If emission, what failed? Nox? Hc? CO? IF you can scan the pre-test and post it here, maybe I can help? I don't understand why AWD owners get worried so much over smog? You know U have an AWD vehicle, meaning your vehicle can NOT go on a ASM test (dyno) so its only a 2 speed idle test. Meaning NO LOAD on the engine = less emissions = easier to pass... Show us the pre-test report and I'll try to help...
