Back in college I had a professor for my senior business project that used work in marketing for Gillette.

'What "they" don't tell us', he used to say,'is that you get the best shave from a fresh razor. Your best bet is to by the cheap disposable razors and use a new one ever time.'

Those were the engineers words, not his.

He went on to say, the current trend towards more blades, was just so they could charge more for the same product. The thing is, that when you use a razor, no matter how well you clean it, it gets contaminated with bacteria that want to eat the dead skin cells that you rip off your face every time you shave. The next time you shave, you put that bacteria on your face. This can cause irritation and razor burn. If you use a fresh razor, you avoid this and always have the sharpest blade available. Ever since then, I switched to the plain ten pack razors. I have to shave every day and haven't had any irritation or other issues since I made the change about 8 years ago.

That's worthy of some consideration BillJC. I may buy a cheap pack and give it a try

i use Gillette Fusion ... kinda like it ... not worried about the price as .. i don't shave every single day. Also use the Braun electric shaver and use Noxzema and Nivea afterwards ... Noxzema makes my face feel hella fresh and cool
Some times I use Edge and some times Gillette shaving gel.

I use the Gillette Fusion Power, which is the vibrating 5 blade model... The vibrations really make the hairs stand up so you get a closer shave. Mach III's always wore out far too fast for me, the ones I use now last like 3x as long and still give you a nice close shave.

I've tried all kinds of razors, from single blade old school ones, electric, 2, 3, and 5 blade models, and can honestly say that the 5 blade model is the best. BY FAR!

Also, like someone said, the standard disposable razors do work FANTASTICALLY, however, you'll get maybe 3 shaves out of one before it hurts... they are only good when you use them when they are new, which is 1-3 times, you can milk about 5 times out of one, but I typically toss them after 3 times.

You pretty much get the closest shave you can get without using a straight razor at the barber shop. However, I feel bad wasting that many razors so often, plus I like the vibrating razor feel...

Razor Bump!

I just realized my electric razor is obsolete and haven't been able to find replacement cutters/screens for it anywhere, not even from Remington.

So I'm considering switching to a decent razor and cream. Anyone else have shaving cream preferences?

I haven't used a real razor in 10 years, so I know my face is gonna hate me for the next few weeks.

Gillette is a marketing genius. They send out free mach3 razors to guys on their 18th birthday. 18 year olds who feel ridiculously cool with their new razors go out and buy mach3 blades, which as all of you have said are overpriced, and make easy Money$.
