Sorry to hear that - there are few things worse than thieves.

Sucks they damaged your car. Thieves suck a lot. If they want it they'll take it. I wonder what they think when they see mine.

Well it sounds like they just bent the little black bar that secures the rack to the car.
That totally sucks.

I wonder if the Control towers are any more secure than the Q towers.

A few years ago my car got hit with a smash and grab too.

They took my GPS (which at the time was worth something) and my backpack which had gym clothes, a paperback, some person papers, a hat, etc. All stuff that is worthless to them.

This makes me think smash n grabbers are stupid ****s who haven't yet learned **** yet. They get almost nothing out of it. Then the victim is left with $x00's of replacement/repair costs.

I almost wish someone would snap and go vigilante on thief asses.

Thieves steal because they're jealous and they want to make a few extra bucks. Too bad the payoff really isn't worth the time in jail.

I always thought that if I'm stealing something that will send me to jail for 60 some years, it better last me 60 somethin' years. Why would I steal some petty crap and get thrown in jail for like a TV? Doesn't make sense.

Thats the problem the locks on that are just to keep honist people honist. Most of them can be yanked and undone with a quick twist of a flat head screwdriver.

Girlfriends car's window got smashed couple months back. Whole street got hit with multiple neighbors waking up in the morning to smashed car windows and stolen items. Her purse was stolen along with a gps. We later found through her bank that the thieves even made a stop at a local yogurt shop most likely because they found her vip card in the wallet. Really? She lives in a very good part of Saratoga too.

Where are you located? I have been leaving my rack on during the snow season, but I might have to start taking it off...

Sorry to hear about this theft. I see ad's on craigslist selling all kinds of different rack parts for different cars in the same ad. I always assumed that it's all stolen.

you really think they're gonna get 60years for this? that seems excessive imo lol... not even grand theft will get you that... barely even murder... for petty theft, you barely get into any trouble (especially underage)... and it's almost impossible to get caught. that's why kids do this stuff. if it can be stolen, it will... if not using the rack for over 1wk, just take it off, it literally takes 5 minutes. don't leave anything valuable (at all) in sight in the car. don't be lazy or you may be the next victim.

pro NFL ootball player got drunk driving, involuntary manslaughter of his own nephew in the back seat, not seat belted in, served 3 months in jail doing 3x the speed limit and ran a red light... a guy stole Lance Armstrong's bike, got 5 years (and didn't even know it was his! lol)... tell me how that works? WTF is all i have to say... my mom got her purse stolen out of her car, santa clara sherrif said that they 95% won't catch anyone.

i personally have a webcam out my front window on all of our cars parked... have the little red blinking light too showing... and fly your NRA flags and American flags high outside your house. my security sign says house protected by browning...

Wouldn't it be more effective if thieves were given TICKETS instead of arrest/trial/jail (if that even happens)

Like, a $5,000 fine for breaking and entering + damages and property.

They either pay it, or then accumulate enough outstanding tickets that they THEN go to jail for.

- more immediate consequence for their actions
- reduced law enforcement effort
- brings income IN instead of paying out for the court/jail
- reduces additions to jail population

We also need the "blog of shame" made by the county itself which posts the picture and crime of what they did. With a searchable data base. Peer shame goes a long way.

No, the Effective thing would be for them to be sentanced to have their arm removed at the sholder on the 1st offence. On the 2nd offence they are put to death.

Guar'n'damn'tee ya aint no one going to be a theif anymore.
