Why do people gotta steal...?

Walked up to my car this morning, only to find my yakima roof rack missing... Very upset at this point.. Not only have to spend another $250 for the rack itself, but I have to waste my time to find another one. It didn't help that they dent part of my roof in the process. >_< Has anyone else have their stuff stolen before?

Sorry to hear about that. If people can steal, they will. I recommend getting some locks for the rack next time.

Yeah, thieves suck. Are the locks specific or are there just generic ones?

It's the locks that sold from yakima themselves.

I mean, are the keys all unique or are there a limited number of them like McGuard?

Either way, it really sucks when people have to take your hard earned stuff.

They mustve had a key similar for your locks. My friends key worked on my racks without even knowing it. He just tried to unlock em and it worked.

i think there's like 175 different keys but not 100% on that.

also, the locks themselves don't seem super beefy imo, i probably could bust one open with a hammer and a flat head screwdriver.

i take mine off if not gonna use if for a more than a week.

but yeah, some people are shady... karma will get them.

That sucks.

Unfortunately there is little incentive in our society NOT to steal. While the vast majority of people are trying to be honorable, there are several who don't care and know they probably will get away with it and don't have anything to lose.

OP, where do you live/park your car?

BTW, as much as it would be nice if karma was real, I have yet to see any evidence that karma is any more in effect than random chance.

this worries me with the subaru rack - seeing as there are no locks (unless you get special headed bolts i suppose?)

sucks man, lesson learned not to have it on unless it's planned to be used i suppose?
