Man, this thread brought back so much memories. I haven't been back to the Philippines since 1980, and I remember all of the stuff we brought there as well as the stuff we brought back. In one of my dad's suitcases was a grip load of knives and I remember him trying to explain to customs that it was for butchering cows and pigs, and the guy saying why the knives have to be soooo big! And of course, there was the obligatory gallon mayonaise jars of bagoong, the umpteen bags of dried fish, tamarind candy and of course my favorite...white rabbit candy.
