Why do most Filipinos travel with Boxes for luggage?

i used balikbayan boxes for moving boxes... whaaa!!!!! we've only lived in my house for like a week or 2 and it already smells like fish... hahah...

ok i know this thread is hell of old but I couldn't stop laughing becuase when my mother went to the philippines, she came back with 3 huge *** boxes filled with her **** LOL

I love it when they buy a nylon bag to wrap around the box, why not buy luggage instead I say?
On a connecting flight from China, it was raining hard and I saw alot of folks with messed up boxes when they arrived in the states due to box luggages.

i will have to experience packing my stuff in the box this june when i head to the PI...wanted to bring a suitcase but gf's parents said we need all the room we can get for gifts....so my stuff is going in the balikbayan boxes...woohoo!!!

I should go with you daniel...LMAO I would not even bring any clothes. Get them there and save alot.
