Why do most Filipinos travel with Boxes for luggage?

to a filipino, that is so uneconomical
Hey my grandma has those ziplock bags for the boxes and it makes it easier to lift up and carry. Especially when you have a couple of relatives going or arriving from the PI and that's like 4 boxes. 2 each...x 70 or so lbs each and you have a workout at the airport. lol
