That's not a bad idea at all. There's a go karting place nearby. It wont only save me money but it'll give her more ***** to push it since she's in a go-kart rather than a big heavy car.

I don't know why I didn't think of this myself!

I figure if she learns how things work that she'll become a safer driver because she'll learn what is right to do and what you shouldn't do, as well as learning how to turn, brake, and basically how to drive... lol. It's sad but true... I just hope that someone out there can help her become a better driver! Any help with finding a place is greatly appreciated.
No disrespect towards your wife or you, but who gave her driver's instruction and a license?

Anyone with a pulse, who can read the eye chart and pass a couple easy tests can get a license, Rau.

Unlike Germany, you don't have to prove you can drive. I don't know if you've noticed, but car manufacturers are working on making cars advanced enough so you don't have to do anything but sit inside - an appliance for hauling people from one place to another.

That's fun to watch. Don't need big hp to do that. Good driving.

Take the test in your native language...even though all the road signs are in English.

I agree with most of it, but I had almost this same argument with a guy that worked at the go kart place a while ago. There were 3 carts that were always in the lead. And no. You can't chalk it up to just drivers. I saw kids and people that had never karted before that were beating guys who have been on the track and knew how to drive well. They were specifically carts 1, 7 and 13. I did ok no matter which cart I had, but the kart attendant kept letting this regular get in cart 1, 7, or 13. When I said I wanted one of those karts, he asked why, like a jack *** and I told him because they were faster carts. You could be on the straight away and fly past the other carts even if you were a 300lb guy (seriously)

He said its not the kart, its the driver, to which I said, and I say to you:

If you drag a golf kart against a corvette you know which one is going to win. I don't care if the guy in the corvette doesnt know how to shift. He'll learn before the golf cart crosses the finish.

Now as I said before, I agree with most of what you said but its NOT just the car. If the cars are comperable yes, the drivers skill is BIG, but when there is a huge performance gap, it just does not matter.

If you're curious which car is faster you should drive each of the cars (which it sounds like you are). Compare the laps that you run with each car.

At least that way the driver skill is a constant. Given suitable time to familiarize yourself with the capabilities and behavior of the car you should be able to answer which one is faster around the track.

Oh really??
Since Brucelee is setting up such a ridiculous comparison, how about a not so ridiculous FACT:

Primitive Rally School, Santa Rosa CA - April 2010
In the rally school final run competition for the fastest time:

WRX STi
WRX
Evo
Forester XT
VW Golf
Ford Escort ('90s version)
Toyota Yaris

What car won for fastest time?

I mean really now, the WRX STi has 300hp, the Evo is right in the mix, the VW has about half the hp, the old ratty Ford Escort has somewhere in the 100 hp range, and then there's the Toyota Yaris...who won this event, and smacked down everybody else with a time that no one yapping in this thread could match. It's not all about the HP...

...besides the fact that my Forester (FLI dyno'd 100WHP) can traverse the Hopland-Lakeport section of Highway 175 faster than my wifes' Forester (FLI dyno'd 250WHP).

Oh, you mean like the 195hp BMW vs the 500+hp Corvette among others in the video I posted? You're going to tell me that Karting of all things, the true momentum sport, a kart made the difference between drivers????????

Unpossible. You're full of soup.

So this proves my argument Greg. The DMV is to blame for ****ty drivers. But we are digressing from the original post...
