Who wants to get back at a Telemarketing Company?

Well, it looks like Big O sold my cell phone number out to a marketing company. I just got a call on my cell phone and it was a company asking about my experience with Big O tires. When I asked them where they got my number, the guy told me that Big O had given out my number to a company called Rastar Digital Marketing and they can contracted with this company to do the legwork. Well, I asked and was surprised to recieve the VP of Marketing's Number at Rastar. I've already called him and left several messages but, I have yet to recieve a call back. I'm ready to fly out and break this guys nose with a 2x4. I was about to post this guys direct line but, I thought against it.

I'm just a little pissed right now so I'm venting.

Bill

/\ yea that /\ it takes up to 3 months to go into effect, but after that...if a telemarketer calls you at the number you registered, you can report them, and they will get busted and can be fined up to $25,000 I believe.

But there IS a loophole in that system.....for example....if your phone company or cable company calls you to try to promote a new product, or get you to sign up for a new service....that isn't considered a "telemarketer." Also, if you get someone calling you to try and get you to take a survey of some kind.....also....not considered a Telemarketer....and wont get in trouble.

But for the majority of these BS calls....it works! I havent gotten a call from a telemarketer since about December.

That wouldn't have helped Bill. There is an explicit exemption for people with 'established business', e.g. Big O and Bill.

I forgot to mention that both my home and my cell numbers are already on the do not call lists. and have been form months now. What pissed me off is that Big O sold my number to this marketing firm. They admited to me that they paid for the lists of phone numbers.

This company is on the top of my list now.

Oh, and this is my favorite website. I did this about 6 months ago and now I get probably only one credit card offer a week instead of the usual 10-15 pieces of junk mail. It stops credit card companies from prescreening you and sending out those offers.

Yup. If you call any one of the credit bureaus, Equifax etc, they will send you to this website if you want to opt out of being prescreened. It's kind of cool. It's amazing that you realized how much junk mail you have when you don't get it any more.
