Was thinking about this when I was darting across the Bay Bridge early this morning on my way to work. My dad taught me how to drive stick when i was 16 and had my first car. I was pretty bad at doing it, but one night my friend Kev came over to my house and was like "dude, let's go somewhere". I was like "naw, I'll hella keep stalling." He flipped out on me like Cory Feldman did to Cory Haim in License to Drive (sorry for the old school reference). So in the end his "encouagement" helped me learn.

What's your story?

My dad taught me, I wasn't allowed to take my DL test in an auto, and I have to say, I will do the same thing when I have kids. I feel bad for people that cant drive manual, they are missin' out!

I learned on my own in like 5 minutes. It was that or I was walking home instead of driving home in my (at the time) new Nissan 200sx SE-R . LOL

i tuaght myself after buying a 98 prelude from stevens creek and had to somehow drive home to union city on the freeway in traffic, well i was sweating bullets the whole time and stalled about half the time, theres nothing better than an angry 80 yr old lady honking at you to make you learn how to switch gears fast!!

Learned myself. When I was 19 I bought a jeep that was stick of course. I couldn`t resist since I`ve always wanted one and the sale price was pretty sweet too. I bought it from a private seller who drove it to my house. It wasn`t difficult to learn really. It did take me a while to improve my shifting and fortunately I never ruined the clutch or transmission.
