Happened at Las Palmas park in Sunnyvale.

dogs will be dogs, and, unfortunately, I think you are in for the entire vet bill, provided that both dogs were off leash. I looked into this quite a bit after my puppy GSD got bit pretty badly by a doberman. Although its the right thing to do, the owner of the other dog doesn't have to give you a dime. At least your pup is okay!

That is not an admission of guilt, but...I hope you got it in writing, as well as info on them.
people have second thoughts all the time when accidents happen, weather it's cars, dogs, or property. Call them now, and 5 bucks says they are going to change the story.

This is also where a witness can help you out, otherwise this is hearsay.

Consider yourself lucky that you weren't involved in the incident. I had gotten my dog back after surgery with a compress on his neck. I was out taking him for a walk in the neighborhood and one family at the end of the block who are irresponsible enough to let their 200 lb Rot roam the neighborhood because their kid forgot to shut the gate. Anywho the dog was hanging out in some overgrown bush and came up from behind us. My dog was still coming off heavy anesthetic. But the rot came after my dog and went straight for his wound. I stepped in took a bite while grasping and nearly crushed the rots wind pipe also stomped its head a few times as it refused to back down after it tasted blood. After enough physical persuasion on my part the rot backed off. My dog was rushed to the vet to close the wounds the rot had inflicted. The family responsible paid for the vet bill on the damages to my dog. Just a word to the wise not everyone is that responsible for their animal's actions. I caution people to be careful when socializing your animals with others that are foreign and perhaps not as well trained.

I had my mom patch me up but only because she is an RN, and yes I was current on my rabies shots.

Current bill is $901. That doesn't include the appt. on Friday to remove the bandage and check the wound, or in 2 weeks to remove the stitches. My offer I think will be for them to pay the $900 and I'll cover the followup visit.

That seems more than fair IMHO. I think you are being nice.
