Question Who can weld this for me??

I got this Borla catback from a friend to put on my RS, only bad part is that the flange / donut gasket came apart from the end of the midpipe. I just want to get everything welded back together so I can install this thing. Anyone here w/ some welding skillz think they can help me or know somebody who can, thanks.

That looks somewhat normal, if you pull the small section out of the long midpipe piece then slip the flange on and put it back together you can install the pipe to your existing as it it can't slip over the flared end that it will pull tight against the downpipe/header pipe.

I don't see how I'll be able to slip the flange over and put it on from the other end because there is the metal exhaust hanger sticking off the pipe and you wont be able to slip the flange past it.

From your picture above it looks like any of the Borla systems with a small end section of pipe slipped into the main midpipe. If you pull that small section out you can slip the flange on (I suspect that is how it came off!). You then tighten the flange to the downpipe/header pipe which forces the flange into the flared piece going over the doughnut gasket creating it too seal. You then use whatever clamps you have to clamp the small section to the main midpipe (typically provided by Borla)

I will take a picture of a new pipe from the shop in the morning for you which will help explain it a tad better.

If you want to weld it then you have to but off some of the flared piece at the end or your never get it to seal right (or get a straight piece of pipe and weld the flange on it.

Jeff,

did you sell your Cobb cat back? It might have fit on the RS.

Yea I sold the Cobb cb already, I had gave them a call but they said the '00 Legacy exhaust wouldn't be compatible with an RS. I'm bringing the Borla exhaust to Long_Travel_WRX's house tomorrow to hopefully get this taken care of.

An 00 Legacy Exhaust will not fit on an RS. The whole piping path is different and so is the way the mounts are

But I believe that the 99 Legacy Exhaust setup will fit on the RS. But I am not completey sure of this.

we ended up doing what mike said i didnt want to weld the flange to the end of the pipe for fear of how tweaked (the flange)was, so i cut his stock hanger mount that was welded to the pipe then seperated them and slid the flange up to the end welded the hanger back on so he should be in good shape
