If the PCV is stuck open a bit, it can pressurize the crank case under boost and cause massive oil consumption.

What if it's shut... i.e. the hose is plugged?

No issue as long as the breather to the inlet is flowing properly. You don't get quite as much vacuum on the crank case under low load/no boost conditions, so gas mileage might suffer very marginally, but otherwise should be all good.
