Hugo - that 76 by del monte doesnt carry it, and I have a feeling the havent carried it for a while now. I went in there and the guy said they dont carry, never have, and he doesnt know whos saying they do. I'm guessing a previous owner/manager there carried it.

ish - That other thread didnt mention any places around here except LS

you probably would not gain anything except for a little extra knock protection when driving really hard.

high octane = good for high boost

actually thats not exactly true....I have filled up my tank with 100 octane, on a 91 tuned map....and the car drove like a completely different vehicle.....turbo spooled faster (due to hotter exhaust temps), car was quite a bit more responsive, and when I got on it, she went like a bat outta hell (more than usual on 91). So, in my own personal experience it DID make a huge difference even with out a special tune for it. Keep in mind that the ECU can learn a certain extent and compensate for different grades of fuel. Not to mention, that if you run 100 octane in ANY engine, it will improve performance, reguardless of computer tuning, because you are burning a "better grade" of fuel, your engine will like it much better, burn the fuel more completely, and efficiently, plus will help with knock prevention.

ofcourse, like you said, if you are tuned for 100 octane, you will obviously be able to make alot better use of the higher octane and get much better results.....but to answer the question at hand....no it wont hurt you car, and YES it will improve performance enough for you to feel a difference. Tuning will make a much bigger difference, thats all.

Running 100 octane on a 91 tuned map is not a bad thing especially if you're running in adverse conditions when the tmic is heatsoaked. You will deffinately see gains then. It also depends on how much head room the tuner left in the map. If, for instance, the 91 tune is very aggressive and tends to knock and pull timing when run on 91, it will obviously benefit from running 100 octane. On the other hand, if you have a very conservative 91 octane tune that almost never pings even in adverse conditions then running 100 octane won't net any gains at all and may even reduce overall power levels.

Thanks

There's a 76 in Sac on Watt just a few lights south of Whitney. I'm not from there, so I don't know the name of the cross-street, but it was a fun drive back to San Jose with an $80 tank full of 100 octane.

Also, I guess there's a 76 somewhere on Foxworthy near Cherry in San Jose that has it.

/\ I thought they only had one 100 pump, the one closest to the corner. Did they add another one? If so, thats great news!
