I also agree. I think he's the most overrated bball coach ever. If he really wanted to prove how good a coach he was, he would've stayed with the Bulls when Jordan and everyone else left the team. Let's see him coach a losing team. All this talk about how he's always calm and collective is only because most of the time he's winning. If they're losing, he always knew Jordan or Kobe would bring them back (most of the time). But when his Lakers failed, you see the real side of Phil. He couldn't stop yelling and complaining to his own team and the refs. If everybody, especially Kobe, bails on the Lakers, Phil's gonna bail as well. He knows that Kobe's the real reason they win comeback or tight games, not Shaq.

I suspect Phil will retire for a year again if Kobe leaves, and see where Kobe or McGrady ends up. If they end up on strong teams, Phil's gonna probably coach that team.

I agree with the jackson statements. He is a good coach...I mean you have to be at least decent to win that many championships regardless of talent. But that series was very very poorly coached.

But if you look at what he's had to work with..how many coaches can say that short of riley and a very few others.
Jordan, Pippen, Kobe, Shaq. just to name the big four. There were many other quality role players. Horry. Kukoc. Etc.

I am stoked for brown.

on the coach note...I'm pretty damned bummed the warriors booted musslemen. Guy did a great job from what I could see. the players didn't love him...but to get the job done sometimes they don't have too. Go watch the Miracle. haaaa.

College coaches are notorious for bombing in the NBA...look at the last few...i.e.Pitino.

Great college coaches don't make great NBA coaches.

On top of that if you look at montgomery..his standford track record has been based off pure team work and long lasting players...a system coach. He's a great one.

He's used to guys that will do it for the team. Overachievers. How many Stanford players do you see succeeding in the NBA. I mean the collins twins are about the best and they are just doing ok. One better than the other. But what happened to the great casey and borchardt? Nothing.

In the NBA you have STARS. you have people that want the ball. One on one ball. Isolation. etc....I think that it works. Musselmen was like that. Get the hot players on the floor. If you're not playing hard and not playing well...you're off the floor..even if you are the best player we have. That is why players didn't like him. If montgomery works out it will be on a system. I think the warriors have good players and can do well with growth and the right moves. But for it to work the players aren't gonna be getting the support the wanted from musselment. I think they are just getting themselves into the same situation with a different name.

Warriors management=pretty much the worst track record of any team ever.

Brian Cardinal (the custodian! ) was playing great, and he played hard and gave effort all the time. But he became a bench warmer once Troy Murphy came back from his injury (and didn't play that well). That's one thing I didn't like about Musselman. He would sit the hardest working player on the Warriors and gave him very few minutes once the regular starters came back from their injuries.

AInt no one humiliated here bro. In the end, like I always say, it's for entertainment purposes only. Nothing more, nothing less. I, for one, am not embarrassed of anything. I'd be ashamed if I was talking all kinds of smack and have it shoved back in my face. But that aint the case here. Again, it's just a game. They just go beat by a team that plays extremely well together. sjt once said that you cannot buy chemistry and that is what the Pistons have. Hat's off to them. But I don't think they can do it again (repeat as champs that is). UNtil next year...at least I can sport my laker gear in pride

The kind of city that the automobile was invented in thats what...Or that the Motown sound of the 70's came from. And on that note why the hell do they call LA the city of Angels when really it should be called the city of gangbangers? I mean we can bash each others city all we want, but if were talking about sports LA has nothing on Detroit. I mean when was the last time your football team...Oh wait thats right you don't have one. Nevermind....Oh and that hockey team of yours is real good...When was the last time they won the cup? All you have are the lakers and they can't even get it done when they have this great team...LOL Oh well you still have the Dodgers and the Kings....And maybe you will get a football team one day....

Thats fine...Everyone keep doubtin. You probably didn't think they would kick the lakers a$$ like they did either....

The thing is the lakers are probably done...Phil said he most likely wasn't coming back and I doubt Kobe stays unless Shaq goes so where does that leave the Lakers...In a rebuilding mode which means no championship for a while....The Kings, Rockets and Spurs must be licking their chops..

In the meantime the Pistons will probably have the exact same team give or take a few role players here and there so we will see someone in the finals but I doubt it will be the LakeShow or NoShow as I like to call them.

Of course I didn't. What kind of fan would I be if I doubted my Lakers!!!

That's fine. I've been through the Lakers rebuilding phase in the early to mid 90's. But that's not going to stop me from being a fan. The fact is, the Lakers had a great run. Only less than a handful of teams in this league can say that they won 3 in a row. Can the Pistons do it? They have a good team that plays extremely well together. But to say they can pull off what the Lakers did is still yet to be seen.

If the Pistons can keep the core players (Billups, both Wallace's, Rip, Prince and a few bench players like big nasty, Okur etc etc etc), they can stay very competitive in the east for yhears to come.

On a different note, you know McGrady says that he would love to play with Shaq (apparently, they are good friends). If this is the case, the Lakers may do a sign and trade for Kobe. I know that they lose a lot on the defense on the trade but this may be the next best things to Kobe.

Again, hats off to the Pistons. They did a heck of a job in the playoffs/finals and deserve to win it all. Until next year
