Where did you travel after college?

Just wondering what "adventures" people went on after graduating and before entering the "real world".

Tells us stories too

Went to Greece after graduation in 2000 for the WRC Rally Acropolis with my to-be wife. Saw the rally for the three days it was going on and spent time in Athens and on the island of Mykonos as well. One of the best times we've had!

I entered the real world directly after dropping out of college, but have been to every state (except Alaska and Hawaii), Germany, Crete, Cyprus, Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, Korea, Japan, and the Philippines.

Germany - good food, good public transportation, great beer
Crete - beautiful landscape, lots of cats
Cyprus - good food, good people, excellent topless beaches
Kuwait - sucks
Iraq - sucks even more
Qatar - nothing to do or see
UAE - lots to do, but not as tourist friendly as they portray
Afghanistan - sucks the most
Korea - fun if you are American (I think I actually saw dollar signs flash in one person's eyes)
Japan - tons to do and very tourist friendly, crazy night life
Philippines - great once you get out of Manila and stay North of Palawan, lots of crime and corruption

backpacking through europe.

london, paris, nice, cinque terre, rome, florence, venice, vienna, prague, berlin, brussels, and back to london.

i'll do the stories one at a time.

in berlin, we met up with a friend who was interning at a law firm to have dinner. we had too many people in our group for one cab and we split to two, with my then gf and i in one cab, and everyone else in the other. we gave the cabbie explicit instructions to follow the cab with the rest of our friends. you can guess what happens next.

the cabbie veers away and we ask him what he's doing. "oh, i know a shortcut". ok. when we get to our "destination" we tell him that it's not the place. we have no cell phones and we have been in berlin for all of 4 hours with no idea where we are and had not bothered to get an address of our friends place. she had moved in a few days before while we were touring other countries and she barely knew herself. oops.

i had vaguely remembered some signs around our friends apartment when we had dropped off our lugage and described them to the cabby. as we neared the area i used my spidey sense to get us back. our panicked friends were waiting outside the apartment discussing what to do when we pulled up. they thought we'd be lost forever.

Spain
France
UK

Spain was my favorite overall, an awesome country. its the only place i have ever been served Jack n Coke in a pitcher. for big cities, i liked Madrid more than Barcelona... but we had **** weather in Barcelona and that may skew my view. the smaller places in Catalonia for fantastic just make sure you 1.) don't speak with a Castilian accent or 2.) aren't Muslim. they have a long tradition of killing muslims and those under the crown of Castile.

France was my second favorite but i hated Paris. north of paris is Giverny, Monet's hometown. if you are in france i HIGHLY recommend going. the town is amazing. Normandy was also fantastic. lots of history and the people in general are nicer than in Paris. i stayed a few nights in Caen right next to william the conquerors castle. they you you play on the castle which is cool, i did it wasted one night. epic shenanigans.

moved from Sac to SF and then started working in Santa Rosa. I made close friends with 101 during this process.
