There aren't many great spots to play in the dirt around the bay area. The few secret spots that do exist, you don't want to share over the internet for fear of some idiot showing up and doing something dumb that ruins the spot for others.
That said, if you're up for a drive out just past Sacramento you can go to Prairie City and pay $5 for entry to the park. There is a mud pit thats meant for trucks, so probably avoid that unless you want to be up to your eyes in it. Other than that, it's pretty much a wide open dirt playground for cars.
If you want some high speed rally-type fun you gotta drive farther still, but there is a cool spot in Cal city down near LA.
I'll have my car back and running next week and I plan to head out for some fun in the dirt too.

haha i dont know exactly...probably closer to SC than to hmb...it was 4 years ago
just take a drive along the coast, and some of the pullouts on the water side of the road have puddles when it starts raining heavily
IIRC it was less than 20 miles north of SC...it doubles as a parking lot for a beach sometimes

a few years ago, i went and took a few folks here and we went to hollister hills SVRA.
1. the drive to get there is wonderful.
2. $6 a day to have all the fun in the dirt or mud. at the end of the day there is a place to wash off the mud before heading home.
unfortunately, my 4runner is currently "on blocks" so someone else will have to arrange this...
