Edit: Wait - it's open face - that's just stupid. Do you value your face?

I volunteer for NASA Tow/Safety and work the 25Hour enduro as well as HPDE days and stuff, and have for many years. Many things can happen - no doubt, and I would never tell someone to be less safe. I have not yet seen a SA vs a M helmet be a deciding factor in someone's survival - not saying it doesn't happen of course. These days, it's pretty darn safe out there - IMHO - more safe than driving on say 280 at speed.

You are right to encourage safety - to be sure. I am not trying to discourage it either - hope it doesn't come across that way. Just don't want someone to think that a M helmet on the track = death.

NO NOT AT ALL you are pro safety
and no M helmet doesnt mean death
at some point it doesnt matter what you ahve on your head

but budget does dictate how much safety you are going to have. I am scared of fire so i went with that route just short of a fire suppresion system and suit

an i wave hi to your counter parts all the time at the end of a session!

and yes i feel safer on a track than driving on the free way. the crews are right there and no drunk drivers
