"Brake checking" as in a surprise mash on the brakes directed at the person behind you, is a total douchebag move, regardless of how you do it. If you are actually trying to get the person to stop tailgating you, use your hazard lights, watch the person just fade away behind you, without starting a fight, putting someone in danger, or worse yet causing an accident. People see flashing lights, they slow down. People see flashing brake lights - they get pissed off (not saying it's valid, but it's true). Don't know why but 75% of the time, it works every time.
I guess I personally feel that the roads and such are bad enough without trying to **** people off on purpose. Personally that **** boils my blood. JUST DRIVE DAMN IT.

Paul! I am very sorry to see that happen and I am glad your family is alright, that is obviously the most important.
However, I loved that Legacy, it makes me really sad to see it go. Especially since I thought you just got finished tuning it up or fixing the engine or something.
Would have loved to see you find the douche and set him straight.

Some idiot purple crayon in a burple LH Dodge Intrepid this morning dove RIGHT into my braking zone coming into a red light. Luckily I was leaving a safe distance between the car in front of me due to the wet roads. Otherwise that cutoff would have been expensive.
Suddenly after that light, he had a windshield full of the back of my car with hazards on going m-i-g-h-t-y s-l-o-w for the next few blocks. *You Shall Not Pass*

I don't mean to make fun of a serious situation - the car's condition seems to indicate that it was a serious collision. Having said that, your daughter's face is :unamused:

I've hydroplaned in the rain and had an accident before (thankfully only I was involved). I respect the rain now.
AWD has taught me the pains of hydroplaning...
And yeah, it's a shame that happened... Good to know your loved ones are OK. And man, I am tearing up just seeing the tailgate (obviously not USDM badging) all bashed...
I do have reason to believe another factor is that people don't look after their tires. The tires eventually bald, and people only replace the tires when they're flat, and this attitude is probably one of the reasons why more accidents occur...
