It looks like she struck my door almost dead on, and then skipped over the beam and struck the rear door. And believe it or not, my driver door, still opened and closed. I love the structural integrity of this car.

And Tim, it's Justin. Or "not Jason" as Christian says. I think they totalled yours because of the bent a-pillar. That is structural integrity of the vehicle. I didn't think it looked like a lot of damage, but because of the a-pillar I can see why they totalled it. And trust me, I was fighting for them to total it. But no dice.

When i was thirteen and living in Big Sur, my father was driving me home through the valley (south, near the state park) and we hit a telephone pole at about 50mph in our '79 accord. I was in the back seat, leaning between the seats adjusting my baby sisters car seat, and my father looked over. the road curved and we didn't.
I ended up breaking my left arm and getting a nice scar on my forehead from the AC lever. Had a circle on my cheek for a while from the radio *** too.
Then, last friday I hit a puddle on an onramp and severely curbed two wheels and messed the front passenger cv joint, axle, etc of my WRX Wagon. On the plus side I'm getting new OZ SLs out of this (well, half of them, I have to pony up for the other two). That was the first accident I have been in while driving, and I hope to keep it that way.

I've avoided all that I could have been in and that is quite a few.
I have only once come close to causing one.
I'm sure that someday someone will get me.
My most memorable ones have been pretty crazy.
At like age 8, while on a trip to Nebraska in the summer, a semi jack-knifed in front and to the side of us.
Dad was driving and we were able to stop.
The convertible behind and to the right was moving fast and went under the truck taking off the driver's head.
The passenger survived because her seat collapsed, but got hit in the head and was in a coma.
That is about all I remember of that.
On highway 17 one night late, right before Santa Cruz some time back in '88, coming around that curve right after the 1 S exit, I saw the most amazing feat of accidentism ever.
On, yes *on*, the center divide was a dark full sized car, balanced, and rocking, with no lights, on fire.
The driver was nowhere in sight, it had been towing a trailer heading northbound and some how lost it.
The trailer was on the far left northbound shoulder upside-down, and the skid went between both shoulders.
A cop was just arriving, not another soul around and I had the feeling the car had been there awhile.
I have no idea how it managed to end up rocking on the center divide on fire.
The physics are just too complex.
Southbound on 17 coming home from work one day a few years ago, on the hill heading down to lexington reservoir(<-hate spelling this), there was a nice truck crash into the railing, 3 cars piled-up against it.
We were about 5 cars back in the left lane.
Very few cars behind us, like 4 in one lane and 3 in the other.
We all stopped in time except for the front 3 cars/truck.
Everyone is tight, bumper to bumper, inches apart, nowhere to go.
I'm nervously checking the rearview, cause I know, and I mean *know*, someone is gonna crest that hill behind at like 80 and see the pile-up and fly through us all with metal and glass flying.
20 seconds pass.
Two cars come over and lock up and stop before the rear cars, hazards come on.
10 seconds or so after that, a minivan and some small 2 door crest the hill, speeding.
They hit the brakes, try and change lanes into each other (bleeding off some speed from the impact), come apart, the small car bouces off the wall, the minivan over corrects trying to avoid the railing and clips it, and they hit *again*.
I'm cringing in my seat at this point, going "Aaaaaaaaaaa".
My carpoolees are turning around to see what is up.
I blink, the little car is airborn upside-down and lands on the roof of the last car to stop in the left lane.
Some big old Buick or something.
The minivan plows into the back car on the right side and stacks-up the cars within 2 behind to our right.
A side mirror flys by into the rear window of the car in front of me.
But it doesn't end there.
The car with the 2 door on its roof panic accelerates before everything has stopped moving.
He drops the car off his roof, rear-ends the guy in front of him and pushes him into the next 2 cars, causing minor damage.
So there we all are in the middle of two accidents, unscathed.
The other arrivals start to stop back up the hill, whew.
About 10 minutes later the cops are there.
2 hours later they are getting statements.
No major injuries we were told.
They took a couple of folks to the hospital.
The driver of the upsidedown car is fine, not a scratch.
Lucky girl.
I think all the insurance cases have pretty much settled at this point.
I'm pretty sure everyone got no-faults too.
Life is weird.

man...
those are some really terrible stories/accidents.
Here's mine...
Going to pick my mother up from work...and dropping off a friend. Taking a long, two lane road (one way, each side) which ends at a stop sign, before a rotary. Taking it nice and easy (it had just finished raining), slowing down (for the sign), and outta no where, this dude comes FLYING through the rotary taking the "exit" and heading STRAIGHT towards me. I attempt to swerve, but reaction time was not really what my car had in mind.
Next thing I know, BAM! Front end was cooked. I get outta the car, FUMING...but knew I had to keep my cool, otherwise, I might be the one thrown in jail.
My cousin, and brother in the back seat are confused...and my friend, up front, is a litle shocked. So, my brother and cousin get out of the back seat...and all of a sudden my brother starts SCREAMING bloody murder! I turn around, only to find that his forehead is bleeding like a can of flowing hawaiian punch. SO, I attempt to call an ambulence, which is sent right away. To make things worse, there is a drawbridge about 300 yds. from where the accident happened, that is OPEN! So, the ambulence gets to the drawbridge, under which a boat is passing, and has to turn around...and seek a different route. Meanwhile, the poor kid (about 10 yrs old at the time) is bleeding from his head...laying down in the back seat, with a cloth over the gash, so that he doesn't die. Crying, bleeding, and confused.
10 Minutes later, the ambulence arrives, from the other route...cops arrive...and take him away. Luckily, the other driver was still alive, and I stayed out of jail...(I didn't let all the adrenaline rushing through my veins decapitate this ****!).
Everyone else in my car had minor injuries...and me, I was treated for back spasms. My brother got 3 layers of 18 stitches in his forehead...which one can still see, 12 years later. Never knew what happened to the bastard who said, "Well, I was attempting to get away from some guy who was chasing me! Didn't you see him?" (Sure, chasing you at OVER 40MPH on a rotary, in the rain???). I suppose he got what he deserved, when he got sued.
Sorry, no pics...and kinda long too. My mind has never healed from it. I can still heal the crunch, and completely remember the car, the bleeding, the crying, the ambulence, the cops, and everything else, like it was just yesterday.
Later, and drive safe. Glad to see that all of you lived.

Your tax dollars at work....
Well i don't have any pictures but I put a Humvee into a river and watched it float away when I was in the service.
Ok... I was in-charge of a small group of soldiers used as "opfor" (bad guys) for guys in Ranger school. I was given a humvee as transportation in case of emergency only to go back to the barracks. Well.... i knew the area well and decided to go RALLYING WITH A HUMMER. Suddenly.... it started pouring HARD and i was next to the river facing it on a downhill slope. i couldn't get enough traction and bye bye it went. We all had to march 40plus miles back and i had to explain....
If you've ever been in the military you know how important connections are... especially when that someone lost the paper work on the incident. Nobody ever mentioned it since they lost the paperwork...as if it never happened.
-By the way... hummers are so overrated any subaru could have made that hill

When I was 17 I totalled my mother Saab 99. I loved that car, but that model was prone to snap oversteer. I found that out the hard way.
It had been raining out, the rear tires were bald, front tires were new (FWD). I came down through these esses, the first turn was properly cambered left going down hill, the second corner was a perfect sweeping corner to the right going up hill. beautiful corner...
It's wierd, I remember it in slow motion to this day, I came through the first corner sideways after the car snap oversteered entering the left hander. As I was powersliding to the left in a desperate attempt to straighten the car, I made it through, straightened the car in a perfect aim to center punch a 200 year old oak tree.
I was unsuccess in my attempts to make the tree move out of the way.
I had enough time to say "Oh S***" (which I did) and then impacted the tree at aproximately 45mph, not wearing a seat belt (pre-seat belt laws). The resulting impact put the engine 6 inches into the firewall snaping the transaxle in half, I bent the steering wheel over the dash, while my thighs shattered the lower dashboard. My forehead hit the lip of windshield and the roof making a perfect indent where I hit.
I was fine, no cuts no concusion, no buises
. I was so pissed that the first 2 cars that came by the accident scene ( car is sitting in the middle of the road folks, with all the oil and radiator fluid streaming down hill
) didn't even stop...
I didn't get punished for totalling the car. All my mother said was
she said this at the scene of the accident, in front of the police officer. Well I guess he felt sorry for me after I admitted that it was completely driver error and he only wrote me up for a warning for driving too fast for conditions.
After the accident, my mother didin't let me drive her new car for a while. I wonder why?

i've never been in an accident but i just have to tell this story. A while back on opening day of jackass the movie, me and a few friends went to go see it. It was sold out till 11pm so we bought tickets and head over to mccarthy ranch to get some food. After eating at in n out we headed back to the theater. Since mccarthy ranch has that no left turn thing we went into best buy's lot and my friend continues going straight. I see him gassing it hella then just busting a big drift accross the lot. He is in his dads old caprice classic, thing is huge. Then he goes to do another one and as he stops sliding i see go over something and the whole front end jumps like off the ground a lil. I was laughing so hard thinking he went over a speed bump pretty damn fast. He stops his car and i am accross the lot so i head over to see what the deal is. The whole front right end of his car is ****ed up. Completly smashed and everything. Turns out he hit a planter box curb and that sorta bumped him into the air and he smasched the front end into the tree inside of the planter. LOL the tree was about to fall over he hit it so hard.

I found this thread (dont ask me how
) on a search so i guess even though its old ill add my story:
Last December, my dad and I were driving down this 6 lane road here which is not divided in my dads 2000 Saab 9-5 Wagon. (really wiered road) Sure enough, a car 4 in front of us stoped quicky to turn left when your not suposed to sending all of us screeching to a hault. We stoped in time but the Toyota Tacoma in back of us didnt
and hit us with us stoped and him going about 50mph. He didnt see us at all and didnt even hit the brake. Our car hit the other car (a cavaleir) so hard that we dove underneath so far that when you looked from inside our car you could see underneth hers. From there it was a chain reaction hitting all the cars in the chain. Our car was totaled along with the cavaleir because our back was at the back seats and The front end was demolished.
The worst crash that I witnessed was when I was driving home from the mountains and here theses this road with a section that is known for bad crashes and this was one of them. A minivan driver (a woman and her daughter) was driving at close to 95mph down this hill just before a intersection. She crossed the center and hit a Jeep Grand Cherokee head on which plowed into a accord right behind. Needless to say, all 4 passengers in the Jeep, the mother and daughter in the Van were all killed and the 2 passengers in the accord were Seriously injured. I was driving about 5 cars back when it happened and saw it occur and the aftermath. I will never be able to forget the sights that I saw on that day. It was about the most grusome seen I have ever and hopefully will ever see.
