in the back and sides it doesnt matter. But i belive in the front the legal tint is 45%. You might want to call omega tintwerks. He's one of the best prices around in the bayarea.

it is illegal to tint the front.

the guys who did do the front have it done at a higher % so that the rear windows are darker. however, that doesn't make it legal.

ok,
When he says front and back I think he means psngr. door windows.
ok your front windshield is illeagal to tint however you may put tint accross the top of it.

your front passenger window and the front driver side window can not be tinted more than 45% not sure exactly on that number youshould double check.

as for the rear passenger windows any tint is allowed.

as for the big rear window any tint is allowed.

nope, i mean that it is NOT legal to tint the front driver & passenger windows...

------
The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.

The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions.

However, legislation signed into law effective January 1, 1999, exempts from the above prohibition specified clear, colorless, and transparent material that is installed, affixed, or applied to the front driver and passenger side windows for the specific purpose of reducing ultraviolet rays. If, as, or when this material becomes torn, bubbled or otherwise worn, it must be removed or replaced.
-------

this was what i was talking about. some of the guys here tint the front windows nonetheless, but it is illegal.

only if it's CLEAR, COLORLESS, AND TRANSPARENT....i'm reading it to mean that it has to be an invisible film that filters out light that we cannot detect.

i did read something about having a natural sensitivity to light and health concerns....i'm not sure about that, so you can do some research on the exceptions to the law...

There is a medical exception where a temporary tint can be used during day time. At night though it must be removed.

I say just tint the window. I did it on my car. I did the back 30% and the front 35%, or is that 35 front 30 back? I never remember. The front is not as dark as the back, and it looks nice IMO.

I've never been bothered by the cops, maybe that's becasue my car is pretty much stock, but my friend who drives a heavily modded GSX has darker tint on the front and has never had any problems with the cops regarding his tint, just his mods.

Oh and it is illegal to tint the front. The tint guy should make it clear that is is illegal and that they are not gonna cover you if you get a fix it ticket and have to remove the tint. At least that is what I was told when I got my tint done.

Every car that has a/c has a very light tint on the windows. You cannot go above that legally. I just talked with my friends uncle who is a police officer for palo alto. The rear, i'm not sure about. But there is a limit.
