I searched already and came up on a thread that pretty much decided no one around here likes to do open source and strictly deals with cobb's ap system.
i'm willing to travel to get a good open source protune. seems to me, with my goals an open source tune would be the best bet.
any suggestions of where to go to?
thanks in advance!

yea pretty much i just want a "stage 2" protune. once i'm done with that i will seriously be done.
all the little bonuses and gizmos that come with the accessport i don't really need. and at $700 wouldn't be the best decision to get to where i want.
i just want a little more kick and torque from where im at now. also better response.
engine wise, mods is just going to be catless up, catless dp, "y" ic hose, spt intake. and in the future, might change up the catback and possibily bigger top mount but most likely not.
do you think those mods will be able to get me around 250hp/250tq with a good protune?

You can use my tuner. He is in Texas and does all my tunes in person but when I am in California he does remote tunes. He does remote tunes all the time and has done both of my friends WRX tunes that live here and they are amazing. He is getting very well known and his tunes are very cheap, and are better than some of the "top" tuners in the country. I will not name names, but if you look on nasioc you can see for yourself.
If you want to PM me we can discuss more, and if you do use him you will get one of the best performing tunes that is at the same time very very safe, and the powerband is smooth as butter.
