DAMN is that F430 Scuderia awesome.... Just checked out the SS/BD FAQ as well - it seems pretty sweet, though I personally would have preferred turbos and a manual trans (immaterial since I will never own one).

I know it's an M3, what kind? CSL? The CF roof = special. Unless BMW decided to give all M3s CF.

It's standard - I read in a mag here in Sweden that you can get a no-cost delete of the CF roof to have a steel roof w/ a sunroof but anyone who does that prolly shouldn't get the car in the first place. Not sure if they will do that in the US too, but yea - the CF roof is standard on the new M3.

There's no way it's going to be auto, at least not auto only. The idea that the T56 can't handle the power is questionable since Lingenfelters and the like use them with no problem. Even if they don't trust the T56, the T6060 will fit pretty much anywhere the T56 would and if it will work in the new 600+hp Viper it will work just fine in the SS.

The original Z06 was indeed a '63 RPO/PRO model that looked very similar to the famous Gran Sports around the same time. I think they only made like 199 Z06's and they were meant to compete against Shelby's Cobras I believe.

there will def be a manual tranny, most of those rumors came from dealership sources, and we all know how accurate rumors from dealership salespeople are

See, that's what I've been saying the whole time. Even when chevy produced some pretty crazy SS models, the ZL-1 fitted with the L-88 style all aluminum 427 was still the king of the hill using the RPO code rather than an SS moniker.

I'm with you, ZL-1 ftw. Who cares if the F bodies used the same code. They're dead now anyway.

Yup... A friend's 700+hp LPE '95 T/A does fine w/ a cryo-treated T-56. He's broken many things, but not the trans. I'm sick of the flappy paddle gearshifts, and will always love my 3rd pedal.

The '63 Z06 was also equipped with the Rochester fuel injection. I saw a full GS replica at T-Hill a couple times, and talked to the guy at length. He kept telling me "yep a magnet won't stick to anything on this car" haha... Implying of course extensive aluminum and fiberglass. The quad Weber side-draught SBC manifold is GAH drooly. WOWZERS.

You guys are lucky that you can use non-reclining seats... Us talk folks don't have that option.

And that Ferrari looks hotter than hell.

I always associated the ZL-1 designation with the '69 Stingray examples. Didn't know there was a ZL-1 option for the '69 Camaro till later. Never heard about the newer thing till here.

haha nice bump!

Ive had a chance to work on a couple of these now, and drive one a bit, and yes they are a MUCH different beast than the 'regular' F430s Ive driven, that Ive never felt were as fast as a Z06, this one is not only faster AND quicker than a Z06, but much more composed, if you know what I mean.
The Z06 can be scary fast, but it has that 'on-the-edge' feeling that Porsche guys like to brag is some kind of virtue. Whereas the Scuderia is very controllable and composed, almost AWD like if I dare say, that inspires alot of confidence and makes it SOOOOO much more enjoyable of an experience.
It just has that 'feel', it really is awesome
