I do that too, run the heater at full with fan on low. Just a habit from when I had a car that used to overheat all the time. Only turn on the ac when my passengers start whining.

I very rarely use the A/C in my car. The only times are when:

1.) Passengers start complaining that it's too hot.
2.) Stuck in stop and go traffic for an hour while it's super hot.

I usually just have my windows down though. When I'm driving around with my GF I just turn the fan to full blast since she understands that I don't like using the A/C.

No AC in the house.
Just open the windows and run the fans at night. Close it tight as a drum in the day. I insulated the hell out of my house a few years ago, it works well enough most of the time. A few days a year it's uncomfortable.

AC in my car broke a while ago. Been without a couple years. Next year I'll pull out everything and save the weight. I rarely have passengers in my car. If I'm going to and they care enough that no AC is a problem, they volunteer to drive instead real quick.

If I use A/C, it's usually kept around 74.

If your cooling system is adequate, there is no benefit to running the heater. If your cooling system is inadequate, it will add a small amount of extra cooling to the coolant.

No AC here, we only get 1 week of hot weather a year, never need to spend the extra money to install an AC.
